The rating of one star is only that because you do not have stars In the NEGATIVE. if you did have stars in the negative I would rate this restaurant and the service as a negative five star.
We had a horrible experience at the Black Bear diner. Four out of five dinners ordered were incorrect. The dinners were sent out from the kitchen cold. The first dinner was chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy and a salad with ranch dressing, when it was served, the dressing was not ranch but blue cheese! There was no gravy on the on the plate and when we requested gravy the waiter did bring it but made the comment of here have some more gravy...at that time we instructed the waiter that there was no gravy to begin with, and by the time the waiter brought the gravy which was supposed to have come with the dinner my daughter did not want to eat anymore because her food was cold gravy was cold. And Chicken fried steak is supposed to have gravy.
The second order was for Salmon with pesto. This meal was for my grandson (almost 2). An option/substitution was requested for rice when taking the order and agreed upon by said waiter. (We were advised by the Manager later that they do NOT serve rice)... ,Why couldn't the waiter tell us that? Also this dinner (for my grandson) was overcooked and served last, about 15 minutes after everyone else and was also cold.
The third dinner was beef brisket with BBQ sauce, again this was served cold and without BBQ sauce.
The 4th dinner was the Rib Eye Steak. It was supposed to be cooked Rare with Blue Cheese crumbles on top.., but when the order came it was overcooked, cold and NO blue cheese. The waiter did bring the blue cheese, and it was hotter than my plate,. Unfortunately, I could not eat it. I took It home for my dog (he wouldn't eat it either).
The 5th plate was just fine.
We had to ask for silverware and napkins, as there was only 2 sets of silverware,
After going through all of that we made our feelings known to the manager of the restaurant, who never even offered to take anything off the bill nor did we get a voucher for a meal or a voucher for a percentage off of a meal nothing he just said well I'll take care of it. he said he would talk to the people that served us and find out what the problem was but he did not ask for my name or my phone number or any means to get in touch with me to tell me why everything was so horrible. I do not expect that anything will be done about this
My husband and I were on vacation, we drove up to visit my daughter, my grandson and my son-in-law. We have been to the Big Bear Diner many times and have never been treated so horrible!
Also, my daughter ordered a diet Pepsí to go, it was NOT DIET...thank goodness she ís not Diabetic!
I do not think we will be returning to This...
Read moreJust wanted to stop by and say that the manager (not 100% sure but I’m pretty sure it was the manager) created such an awful humiliating experience for me when I recently went there. He was a black and silver haired older Hispanic gentleman and wears a grey shirt. When I was checking out at the front I was standing there for a couple of minutes waiting for a couple to finish paying, the worker SAW ME standing there, then I realized that I forgot my receipt at the table, I quickly ran back to get it then got back in line but by then there was a family wanting to check out… fine it’s my fault I’ll just wait a little longer.. 10 minutes later I’m still standing there waiting to get checked out because the worker purposely was skipping me and calling other people in line before me. I was trying not to make a big deal out of it, and maybe I should’ve moved up in line but I was already standing by the register. Final straw was when a couple who had JUST finished eating were called over to get checked out by the guy.. I told them “hey I’ve been trying to get checked out” they were like “oh sorry he asked us to come up”. The worker very clearly made eye contact with me and didn’t even have the cajones to say “sorry for the misunderstanding” or anything at all. I wasn’t expecting an a** kissing but he smirked and just ended up checking me out without saying anything. To me this was a clear sign that he was doing it on purpose because there was no way he didn’t see me there with my to go box and receipt. Needless to say I will not be going back and I will be telling all of my family/friends in the area not to go there if black bear diner employs people into leadership positions who very clearly like to be disrespectful and petty for no apparent reason. Para la gente hispana que quiere ir a comer.. no vayan por que el manegador le gusta atender a otra gente primero que a uno aunque...
Read moreWhere do I start? First off, the girl at the front was rude, she didn't offer my daughter a kids menu with crayons as they normally should and do, so once we were seated I asked for it and she seemed irritated. The server guy seemed stressed and not engaged, he never wrote any of our orders dwn nor the people in our area. Maybe this is why everyone's food was late. Literally ordered our food at 11:46am and we just rcvd our food at 12:38pm. The food was over cooked and my daughter's pancakes were hard!!! I asked for a straw and never rcvd it so I reminded him to get me a straw and I rcvd my straw 24 minutes after my iced tea was delivered to me. Basically everyone sitting near me was complaining about their food and the service here. Black Bear has always been our families favorite place but this is the 3rd time I have visited this location in 2 months and the service is the same every time. So this is why I am finally writing this review. It's unfortunate that this great place has turned to a NEGATIVE one. We won't be back here again. My suggestion to Management is; Train your cooks or hire more cooks so the food we pay for is actually good- tasting and not over cooked. Hire more server's with good customer service, Re-train the girl at the front who should be Greeting people with a positive demeanor and maybe a smile won't hurt her face either. Customer Service should be your #1 concern in this industry and clearly it's not something you will get here....
