Update #4
Drive thru service was very slow. The chorizo burrito with red sauce was pretty amazing, but they should have dropped a fresh hash brown into the fryer so could have been hot and crispy just before wrapping up the burrito. The taste, however, was out of this world!
ORIGINAL POST
The burger was a good, backyard BBQ style flavor and presentation. The patties were dry though, which took away from the aesthetic. The fries were homestyle, but cold and soggy. They tasted like they were baked in an unpleasant way. My wife had the bacon breakfast burrito. It was packed with potatoes and little else. I ate half of it as she was displeased. I give three stars based on my experience with these three items.
UPDATE
I tried Blake's Chicken Sandwich. It was second only to Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen. In other words, the Blake's Chicken Sandwich is incredibly good!! The sauce is delicious, the chicken is crispy and somewhat moist in the center, and the bun is artisan style. I left it at four stars because they wanted to charge me $1.99 for a cup of ice water, which I simply refused.
It is definitely worth going out of your way for the Blake's Chicken Sandwich, but BYOW... (bring your own water) or buy a soda.
Update #2
The bacon and green chile breakfast burrito was NOTICEABLY BETTER. Three times as good as it was one year ago. The potatoes were separate from the eggs, cheese & bacon, and the green sauce trickled kindly down the bacon and eggs. It was DELICIOUS!
They still overcharge for the water, so I left without a drink.
Update #3
The bacon burrito was way oversalted, the hash browns were undercooked so hard to chew, and the blonde girl at the window on the morning of May 8, 2023 was rude in the sense that she did not smile, nor did she say thank you or anything else while handing me the food and drink. She handed me a bag and drink and turned her back and walked away... Very strange how inconsistent this...
Read moreWe just needed a place to eat at the end of a long driving day from San Antonio. We like to try places that are local, and not too many places were still open when we got in on a Sunday night around 7pm.
The restaurant was clean. The prices were fair, $5 for a burger and $4 for its "little brother." The staff was friendly and accommodating except they'd forgotten to put mayonnaise on my burger, but I was okay with putting it on myself. They gave me a ramekin packed with mayo that I could also use with their fries and worked better than their tiny ketchup packets. The fries themselves had exceptional flavor, but some of them were a little soggy.
The burger itself was good. I prefer leaf lettuce, rather than chopped, but it's their store after all. It was only an issue because my wife was unable to get a lettuce-wrapped burger there. The only negative interaction we had was when the gentleman came to drop off our food, we tried to ask a question, but he just left the trays on the table and walked away. A little preoccupied, perhaps, but overall, we had a great first-experience with this...
Read moreI was ignored for 20 minutes at the counter when I walked the girl made eye contact but didn't say anything to me no please hold on I'll be right with you, nothing. When she did finally come to take my order she was incredibly rude and when I asked for a combo instead of charging ne for the combo she charge me for everything separate making my meal double the price. She's not new I saw her there last month the last time I went in. She rolled her eyes and lied to me when I questioned it rolled her eyes at me when I handed her the money and when I said thank you she again ignored me. I get that we all have bad days but this girl is always hateful and slams the the drive thru window at customers as well. I'm local and I won't be returning even if the food is good. I'm not paying anyone to treat me poorly. The other girl who brought the food out was nice. But the rest of the staff. Idk what is wrong with them your employees are miserable and it...
