There are several reasons to spend your money at any other grocery store than Farmers Market, and the reasons are as follows: Of the three places you can buy groceries in Roswell (Walmart, Albertsons, and Farmers Market) this place is by far the most expensive of the three. The produce: not only is Farmers Market's produce more expensive than anywhere else, it's also frequently rotting or half-rotten. I am always amazed at the management's blatant willingness to display rotting vegetables and fruit and expect their customers to pay more for it than we would for fresh produce at Albertsons or Walmart. Moral judgement and comdemnation: this is by far the most essential reason, and it's also connected to the recent review before mine: the cashiers are discriminatory and rude to the point of coming across like an "American Taliban." I have personally witnessed the cachiers - on numerous occasions - treat customers with complete disrepsect. In particular, the cashiers seem hyper-focused and critical of customers who dare to purchase alcohol (the irony, of course, is that Farmers Market does in fact sell alcohol.) To give a personal example: Farmers Market has the best selection of top-shelf bourbons, ryes, and whiskeys that you can buy in Roswell (again, given their behavior, this is very ironic.) One afternoon, I went there to purchase a bottle of bourbon; when I handed it to the cashier, she stared silently and critically at me for a good ten seconds or so, then cryptically asked, "Anything ELSE?" It was obvious I had no groceries, and it was also obvious she did NOT approve. While I simply nodded my head "no," what I wanted to reply - with a sarcasm that I'm sure she would have taken literally - was, "You can see I'm buying this $102 bottle of bourbon, now please ring me up so I can go home and immediately begin chugging and binge-drinking. I'd like to have this bottle emptied by 3 PM today." I have seen them give this very same attitude to other customers buying alcohol; apparently, anyone buying booze is an alcoholic (double-whammy for women buying liquor) and they're not afraid to let you know of their moral disaproval. While it's logical to wonder why if they feel so adamantly against people drinking liquor, then why sell it? - my hunch is that there are two answers: they earn revenue; and most importantly, it gives their cashiers an opportunity for feeling morally indignant. So the above are all the reasons why I've never bought produce or groceries at Farmers Market, and why I now drive up to Santa Fe whenever I want to buy top-shelf bourbon. The three hour drive to Santa Fe is preferable to the absurdity and rudeness you experience when shopping at Farmers Market. Finally, to the reviewer who was turned away by the cashier: I'm so sorry this happened to you, and I'm also sorry to hear you...
Read moreAs shown in the photos, this place is clean and the layout makes easy for quick shopping. The price are not too bad for a quick stop. It's like a small Wal-Mart neighborhood market and a big OnCue gas station with a large selection of hot food ready to ate. Yes, the store has so much more like other grocery stores.
The employees are friendly especially Ms. Mel and Janet 🙃and the other young ladies that work in the Deil/Bakery department, which is where we most our shopping Experience is located. A healthy young lady with black & color hair, she knows who I am speaking of. I bought a large mashed potatoes for the 1st time but I didn't realize it was huge for like a family of 5😜. And a new young woman with tattoos I asked her to wrap my OMG🥰 Chicken Noodle soup and use the register for the 1st time. She handled the task very good. I like to give good Employees their praise when they go above just saying. "Hello. Can I help you". And the cornbread really does have the taste of a special made pound cake. Hubby loves the crispy chicken and the Thursday meatloaf and Taco Tuesday.
There is good parking and good lighting for the late night shoppers.
If it's your first time shopping there after this review. Note: You push your basket up to the person behind the register not in front with you. I thought it was wired but it makes sense. Keeping room for people to pass by freely without the obstacles in the way plus the cashier takes the items from the basket which is very helpful for older customers. And if you have been waiting in line behind a lazy person after they pay and walks off leaving the basket right there leaving it for you to push out the way🙀 Problem now solved here👏🏽.. Thank you for great cooks and helpful employees. I hope others raise the bar as the woman in the...
Read moreDescription : Grocery Store Employees discriminated against me, this has happened a total of 4 times now which has resulted in me not feeling safe while buying groceries.
-I will be deleting this post if I hear from higher management or the owner, as I usually do not leave bad reviews~
I honestly really like this market. It’s close by, they keep everything organized, clean, and it’s a nice atmosphere. I’ve been coming here primarily for fruit and meat.
The only issue I had was today, as I have had to walk around with a backpack or skateboard as someone totaled my car.
The lady with blondish strawberry hair, glasses, mid 40’s-50’s was very rude and made me put my backpack and belongings in the front, even though everyone else had the rights to their larger bags. I didn’t even have my skateboard, so there was no provocation. As leaving, she very angrily pointed at the no backpack sign which I did not see.
She also said I would not be allowed in the store again, even though there was no official paperwork nor proof of manger role, or ownership of the establishment.
Like I said, I really like this place, and I’d be willing to even write a different review if I am to receive better treatment. She threw off the whole atmosphere, and I personally wouldn’t want to come back even if she didn’t say I wasn’t allowed without any true reason to provoke or assume.
I usually use the Walmart app to get my food delivered. I was just trying to support local groceries anywhom..
EDIT:
Just got out of their grocery store. This blonde girl who seems to be 18-25 was very rude to me and refused to communicate properly. I can explain details, but I am rather concerned with what type of people they hire above all else. I feel discriminated against and it’s makes the...
