This is my new favorite restaurant.
The food from the restaurant: Their hummus is among the best I’ve had — super creamy. The falafel sandwich is excellent — I like it so much I don’t know if I’ll order anything else moving forward. My husband enjoys the kufta sandwich and — like a couple of the other reviewers on here — he dips his fries in the pale orange-colored sauce.
The bakery: It is so nice to be able to find a place that does homemade baking to such high standards as Jerusalem Bakery does: I know we can purchase high-quality baked treats here, but they are different from the pies and cakes I would normally bake for my husband, or they are things I would not be able to make as well. For example, homemade baklava. This place does it and does it well, because my husband now gets the walnut baklava every time we come here and talks about how it is the best baklava he has had anywhere. The thing we both really like are the ... and I hope I am spelling this the right way ... the ka’ak. They have two varieties (vanilla, and anise), and they come in rather large bags (we portion them out in smaller bags and put some in the freezer). I usually don’t eat dessert, because I don’t eat many sweets. But I like these — they are just sweet enough without being too sweet. And they are perfect with tea. There’s an added bonus about this bakery: if you are lucky enough to time your visit when something is baking, it smells phenomenal. :-)
Oh, and you should check out the market next-door, as well: this is the only place in the area (I even looked at the Buford and Dekalb Farmer’s Markets) I have been able to find sumac, so points to this market for their selection of spices. The last thing I have to say about this place is that the people working there are very kind and helpful. I really hope this place will be successful, because to me they are doing...
Read moreHad a frustrating experience a few weeks ago. This was my first time coming to this location (only been to one other location once) and I placed a pickup order. When I arrived I quickly found & proceeded to the pick up area. I walked up and the guy behind the counter asked me if my number was xx (can’t remember what the number was); I said I was picking up a to go order and didn’t see a number anywhere in my order details. He didn’t respond but I assumed he heard me and knew I was waiting for my order. Several minutes passed and I watched dine in customers come retrieve their orders (I learned that they had numbers assigned). My email stated my order was ready (it was supposedly ready before I arrived)so I started checking the receipts attached to to go bags to see if I could find mine. The guy came over and scolded me for doing so and asked if I was picking up a to go order. I said YES, why do you think I’ve been standing here for 10 minutes and told you initially I had a to go order?!? He said something like “well you didn’t say anything “. He asked for my name, confirmed my order and handed me my bag. I said thank you and promptly left, visibly frustrated/upset. I suggest that management train their customer facing workers to acknowledge customers when they walk up to the counter and inquire if they are picking up a to go order, ask for their name etc. The food was really good I’m...
Read moreJerusalem Bakery is one of my favorite spots for Mediterranean food. Their shawarma options are excellent, especially the chicken, which is always tender and flavorful. The beef shawarma is rich and sometimes a little too fatty, but still enjoyable if you don’t mind a richer cut. Their kebabs are consistently fantastic—juicy, well-seasoned, and grilled to perfection. The falafel is another highlight: crisp on the outside, soft inside, and never greasy.
What really elevates their plates are the freshly made condiments: creamy hummus, smoky baba ghanoush, and bright, herby tabbouleh salad, each bursting with authentic flavors. Portions are generous and perfect for sharing or enjoying as a hearty solo meal. Service is friendly and efficient, making every visit pleasant, whether you’re dining in the dining area or grabbing takeout.
Another plus: right next door is a great Afghan bakery offering a variety of fresh breads. Their naan and lavash are ideal for accompanying any meal from Jerusalem Bakery and are a treat in their own right.
Overall, Jerusalem Bakery delivers authentic, flavorful Mediterranean dishes with consistent quality in a relaxed setting. I keep returning because of the delicious food, welcoming atmosphere, and the access to the neighboring bakery. Highly recommended for anyone...
