I took my onkyo TX-NR717 and onkyo TX-NR509 to modular electronics because of the good reviews.i live in Kennesaw ga so is a 1h30m round trip.the onkyo717 didnāt have power the onkyo509 was on safe mode,it shoot down as soon as you turned it on.Told Benny I just wanted the 717 fix since it is a better unit. After three weeks I called to have an update on the receivers. When I talked to Benny he told me that the onkyo tx-717 needed a POWER SUPPLY BOARD he told me it will be $190 -50 from deposit so $140 do payment for the repair.I decided not to get it fix cause didnāt want to spend that much money on my used unit though i ll rather put the money tors a new unit. Benny offer to go down and do the job for $120 but still I said no.When I picked my receivers the next day and on my way home I remember my brother asking me if I ever checked the fuses on the receivers? Well I know what Benny already told me that it was a Power supply board but I got home open up the two units and as I was going thru the fuses on my onkyo tx-nr717 I noticed one fuse didnāt look right so pulled it out and it was blown :/ since have the two units opened I took a good fuse from the onkyo 509 and replace it for the blown fuse. For my surprised the onkyo 717 turn on.turned it back off and on many times and it was fine.Called Benny and told him what I did and he was still denied that the problem was a fuse.Told him to FaceTime me,he did and I was asked to show the serial number on the unit to verify it was the same so I did ,asked me what fuse I change and I showed him from where, showed him the unit turn off and on with out problem. He still said oh the unit has more problems! So I told him,you are telling me that Iām gonna connect my receiver to cable box and speakers and is not gonna work ? He said it was possible cause sometimes the hdmi board are bad on those units. So wile on FaceTime I hook my receiver to cable and it showed picture the the speakers and it has sound. After that he try to claim he did some work on the board but miss to look for that fuse! There is not way for a professional in electronics to miss a blown fuse, it took me 10 minutes to open the units find the fuse and switched them ! He offered a refund from my deposit and he apologized. I felt this person was trying to rip me off and some of the reviews said how honest he is and I donāt believe he is a honest person. He saw the opportunity to make some very easy money telling me that the unit need it a power supply board and it was just a fuse ! May be a $5 fix . I wonder how many people have brought their electronics and got rip off ! So my long review is for people to be careful and may be do a little more research before bringing their electronics here . If Benny wants to denied my review I have recorded call and my recipe from PayPal from the refund from Modular...

It is the equivalent of walking into a custom car shop, not a Porsche dealership. This is a key distinction, and smart consumers will develop a long term relationship and learn all about their gear and making great sound.
Beyond his own line, refurbished equipment is everywhere across his small shop. Most of it is hooked up and ready to demonstrate.
I have both a pair of his custom CR3W speakers, handcrafted, and a refurbished Audio Research solid state amplifier, which we discussed and matched. When I have had a problem, Benny has fixed it.
Modular electronics is mid to high end- it is not Best Buy, nor all about branding. It is about creating great audio and sound with new and old components, and fixing treasures, in partnership with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBenny is a true master craftsman. I own a Yamaha turntable that I know is probably not worth fixing. It was acting up over the weekend so I took it over to Benny. As I was giving him my opinion he started to handle it as if it were a newborn baby! He was so gentle and careful as he removed the dustcover and eventually got to the belt which was in fact the problem. He replaced the belt and after examining the overall unit he plugged it into a receiver to test it. Honestly, it sounded good to me but not to Benny. He took it apart and said he thought the belt was not quite right so he went and got another belt. Dropped the needle on the LP and again, I thought it sounded right but Benny did not think so. He replaced that belt with a 3rd which was the winner. The point is he wanted it to be perfect or as perfect as it could be. If I could have rated the experience higher than a 5 star...
