I’m extremely disappointed to be leaving this restaurant a one star review. I first tried this place when I moved here in August and loved the food. The fish was very fresh and the presentation was exquisite. I ordered from here every few weeks since, and there had only been one small mistake when they forgot to put wasabi in with my tuna sashimi. I did have some at home already, so the problem was solved with an apology when I let them know what happened. Last week though they made a mistake while taking down my order and instead of tuna sashimi I received pork. My husband picked up the order and they did not want to correct their mistake. I ordered what I order every single time, so why in the world would I want pork instead of tuna sashimi? They said they could make the tuna a sashimi, but it would take a while. It took at least 30 minutes and the sushi chef did not work in their mistake first, since they still refused to acknowledge the fact that it was on their end. They rest of the food was hot and got cold during the time it took him to make everyone else’s order and then mine. Then they expected us to pay for both dishes. My husband complained to the supposed owner, who was the sushi chef, but not the one that was there all the other times. They let him just pay for the correct order, but still refused to apologize. When I opened what I received at home it was still fresh, but the presentation was not there. The fish looked like it was cut with a full knife and everything was just thrown in there. The quantity of fish was also much smaller than usual. I was so disappointed after our previous positive experiences here and we will not...
Read moreIt was my husband and I first time coming to this restaurant tonight. First, we didn't have a reservation but I didn't know we needed one. We waited abt 3 minutes and was seated. Then we waited for our server to get our order. By the time we were ready to order, the server was at our table. I wanted to have sweet tea but they only had unsweetened tea so I ordered a sprite instaed. My can of sprite was $3. I could have bought a 2 liter with that amount. I ordered a super crunch roll and a dragon roll, a miso soup, kani croquettes, large salad, and the fried octopus. It took a long time to get our drinks. The salad just consisted of salty ginger dressing, lettuce, and some thinly shredded carrots. I found a short black hair in my salad. Mind you, I didn't really mix the salad. I spit out my bite of salad I had currently in my mouth in my napkin. I should have canceled my whole order and left the place. Then, the fried octopus came out very dark and salty. Then, the miso soup came out. It had no miso flavoring at all and watered down. Then, the Kani croquettes came out. It was just fried cream cheese and no crab flavor. At this point I'm just hoping that the rolls are worth the trip out to this place. The rolls were ok, I've had way better. Overall, I would not come back to this restaurant. I feel like I wasted my time and money here. Also, the place is small, abt 11 tables, and the hostess seated us in the pathway of the nearby door. There was another table firther away towards the inside corner empty. My husband and I had to keep our jackets on the whole dinner or...

So, I've been to this Japanese place like four times in the last year. Usually, it's pretty good, which is why I gotta share what went down this time. We went all out with our order - couple of appetizers, entrees, and like five sushi rolls. The main thing we were hyped about was the Saba Shioyaki (grilled mackerel). But man, things got weird. When ordering, I asked about the Gindara Dinner (grilled black cod), but the server said it's a small dish. So, I stuck to the mackerel plan. But here's the twist - when our dish came, it didn't look like mackerel at all. Mackerel's usually dark, but this was light. We tasted it to be sure, and yep, definitely not mackerel.
Told the server about the mix-up, and she was like, "Nope, you ordered black cod." And get this - they wouldn't swap it out but said we could order mackerel on top of this. We passed. And we sent the Black Cod dish back. Then the server comes back saying the owner will charge us half for the black cod because we touched it. How were we supposed to know it wasn't mackerel without tasting, right?
I told the server to forget the discount - we don't need it. We paid full price for the black cod and didn’t order anything else. I've been here on dates, with friends, and with family. But today? Total letdown. Felt like they were penny-pinching and thought we were too. I usually leave a nice 20% tip, but today, just 16%. Didn't really feel like they earned it. Probably not going...
