La Sierra Mesquite Smoked BBQ — Restaurant in Roswell

Roswell, NM is a favorite stopping point for travelers searching for aliens, bats, migratory birds, and caves. This writer came for baseball at the New Mexico Military Institute. And, as I typically do, I searched out the best local barbecue flavors.

La Sierra Mesquite Smoked Bbq warmed this Texan's heart. Housed in a converted drive-in diner, La Sierra's hosts are kind and welcoming. I enjoyed the eclectic bbq-themed decor and down-home atmosphere. But the star of the show was the mesquite smoked meats.

The brisket had a nice characteristic mesquite 'bite' of flavor in the crust and needed no sauce. Very tender and colorful. The large (silver-dollar diameter) smoked sausages were mild but carried the smoke flavor throughout the entire profile of the meat. Perhaps the best surprise was pork. This was one of the most consistent and tender pork butts I have ever tasted.

As for sides, the potato salad was excellent (even though I am not normally a fan of celery in the dish). Mac n cheese was thick, warm, and comforting. I added a little barbecue sauce to the ranch beans and they were perfect.

I was very pleased with a courtesy and friendliness how I was waited on by the owner of the restaurant and also on the amount of food already been a while since I've had some really good barbecue it was absolutely delicious I would recommend La Sierra Mesquite Smoke BBQ to friends and family. Next time I'm in Roswell again which I only get to go there when I have a doctor's appointment I will be going back to LA Ciara Mesquite smoked BBQ restaurant and I really like how they converted an old Sonic restaurant into the place I also like the decor in it the place was amazing I love their how to use solid wood with tree bark on it for bench tables and there bench stools with the etched horses in different type. My wife and I shared a rack of the amazing baby back ribs and had several sides to go with them. The ribs were very tender, virtually falling off the bones, and the sauce they have is just right with a hint of tang. The sides were all excellent. I highly, highly recommend the corn on the cob and the onion rings. Save room for dessert! They have most excellent pies, including pecan and apple. The cornbread muffins are fantastic. southern style. The place is run by the two owners. They are very pleasant and accommodating. I understand these folks are from Texas, and they know their barbecue! The portions are BIG. They really spoil you here. We had to take some home, and the stuff was all outstanding the next day, too!
