I'll start with the bad, because there was only one. The air conditioner or exhaust vent or something was running and I realize I'm more sensitive to sound, especially electrical, than probably 90% of the population, and it was making a weird sound that reverberated and messed with my ears. But we were seated far from the kitchen and after a bit of time, I didn't notice it anymore.
So the good, because there are many and they're important:
Our waiter was fantastic. Friendly, charismatic, perfect amount of attentive and 'I'll let you eat,' and seems to really like his job.
I got chicken tortellini and when I tell you that the cream sauce is the best I've ever tasted, girl, you'd better believe me. I've eaten Italian food all over the world, some by famous chefs at fancy restaurants, some by felons out of sketchy dives, but these chefs have the formula down better than any other. I pulled out the red chili flakes and pepper, assuming I'd have to give it some extra oomph, but I didn't. It had spices and a texture that you just can't get from commercially-made jarred sauce. I literally had a dream about this sauce a couple of nights ago; THAT'S how good it was. And the chicken wasn't just bland overcooked breast chunks; it was skin-on and had been seared so it had a yummy crust and a nice bite. Pasta was, like everything else, cooked perfectly.
My dining companions were quite happy with their lunches too, but I was too enamored with mine to pay much attention. They got the homestyle lasagna and chicken piccata and raved about both.
Tortellini alfredo (or alla panna, carbonara, or roseé, or diavolo) is one of my favorite dishes but so often falls short in restaurants. Either they use cream when they shouldn't, or it's bland and tastes like Prego with extra parmesan. The fact that this sauce knocked it out of the park is more than enough reason for me to keep coming back, because it's definitely better than anything I can...
Read moreI sincerely hate giving bad reviews. I feel like a jerk. But, I feel like the reviews here are fake OR it recently changed ownership. There is no way the food we just had comes close to these reviews. First off, it is a reclaimed pizza hut. No big deal, but it still looks like pizza hut. Very bright, dirty, freezing cold and unwelcoming. The bread was good, but the oil to dip it in was garlic salt and pepper. My chicken piccatta was covered in garlic. I mean huge chunks, it was overwhelming and also soaked in olive oil. The first piece of chicken was just ok, it was the only edible thing on the plate. The 2nd piece was pink. I couldn't eat it. My fiancé had pasta marinara, it tasted plain. Like sauce from a cafeteria can. He is a good and non picky eater. He only ate half. He also cannot have cheese. He asked for no cheese on his spaghetti, then ordered garlic bread. It does not say on the menu there is cheese on the garlic bread. You would think the waiter would mention that when you asked for no cheese seconds before. So he ended up picking off the cheese and only eating one piece because it was also extremely greasy. And not that it matters because we didn't like it. But for an Italian place, the portions are small. Oh and obviously not even a piece of garlic bread is included with the spaghetti or salads. Those are extra. As well as the waiter forgot several items. Completely forgot the garlic bread and we had to wait another 10 minutes for them to make it. Which again, not worth the wait, still charged us full price and did NOT apologize. Do not by fooled by these reviews, unless you're not used to good italian food. It gets two stars because we were able to eat SOME of the food and the...
Read moreI came into this location from a trip here for dinner before I left back home. Our waiter was not very friendly and was pretty rude. This order was for a party of two. The two of us ordered the same thing. I was very clear and reported the order back to the waiter four times and he still got it wrong. I asked for two orders of french fries and two orders of chicken alfredo. He than came back into our table with only one order of fries and one order of chicken alfredo. I looked at him and asked him when was he going to bring the rest of the food and than he looked at me confused. I told him it was supposed to be two of each order and than he asks me what I want him to do about it. I told him to make my order right. He tells me I can split the food in half until they come out with the rest of the order. That was very unprofessional. He later brought the rest of the food to our table without an apology. On top of all that our food was served on broken dishes. I was scared to eat out of that inking there may be chips of glass in my food. There clear and visible on the picture attached. I left this business very disappointed. Food was small portioned compared to other plates I saw at other tables. I feel like my money was waisted at this establishment. I don’t believe I’d return to this...
