My daughter and I were excited to try NaNa Thai Eatery for lunch today for the first time. We had great service and the interior was nice. I have a friend who has been, and recommended it. My daughter is 10 and usually orders from a kids menu. They do not have a kids menu but do have small plates of some items. She decided on the egg fried rice small plate for $3. I asked the server if we could add some chicken for an upcharge. He informed me that they couldn't do that. His suggestion was to order the $12 adult fried rice with shrimp, beef and chicken and remove the shrimp and beef. Although I knew we were removing the two most expensive proteins from the dish, I decided she would enjoy it and would have lots of chicken to eat. I was happy to get it for her. I ordered the shrimp Pad Thai after asking the server which entree he would suggest between the Pad Thai and the Massaman curry. I love Pad Thai and have tried many different ones. My favorite so far was from a dive in Boston. When our food was delivered the presentation was very nice. I looked at my daughter's fried rice and noticed lots of burned onions and eggs. She, like most kids and many adults, does not like the taste of burnt food. I didn't mention it hoping she would be able to work around it. She did her best. She ate the five small pieces of chicken and liked them. I was surprised there were only five pieces of chicken. She took a couple of bites of the rice and was finished because of the burned flavor. Now on to my Pad Thai. I'm not sure that I have ever seen or tasted such a sugar syrupy Pad Thai before. One of the things I love about Pad Thai are the different layers of flavors. There was only one layer. I couldn't detect any different flavors even in the sauce. I do not like my Pad Thai swimming in sauce. Maybe some people do, but 90% of the Pad Thai's I have had been lightly sauced. I finished about half and couldn't continue to eat it even though I was still hungry. I decided to try my daughter's fried rice hoping she was exaggerating the burned flavor permeating through the entire dish. She wasn't. Even grains of rice were burned. We were disappointed. When the server asked how everything was I showed him her burned dish politely explaining that she is not a fan of burned food. I didn't ask for anything because I feel like that is the chance you take when trying a place for the first time. He took 20% off of our bill. I felt like that was nice to do. Still we spent $26 (without drinks, including tip) on a half eaten disappointing lunch. I asked if the regular chef was in the kitchen and was told that he was. I was hoping that was the issue since I really would love to have a nice Thai option here in East Cobb. I will probably go again so I can try the Massaman. I felt the need to post a lengthy review since I was posting something negative amongst all of...
Read moreI had the please to try this place for the first time while taking my lunch break for work. I travel a lot around Atlanta and am always looking for a place to make a quick stop. I was immediately surprised by how fancy the setting was. As I was in a work uniform I felt extremely underdressed but nevertheless I ordered a perfectly proportioned dish which had me so full I was hardly able to keep working I wanted to take a nap. If you ever have the opportunity to stop by this special spot, and you like Asian foods this is the perfect place. I will be definitely bringing someone here with me next time.
I almost forgot to mention, my bill only came to $13 for my meal. You will spend more on fast food than that. So make sure with the savings you are getting to tip well!
Edit 3/219
It's now the next day, 24 hours after my visit and I am sick with food poisoning... I have spent 4 hours this morning throwing up chunks of the food that I ate yesterday. I'm sure that it was a freak accident but I am under the impression the chicken was undercooked. I highly suggest to the management to force your chefs to check the temperature of your chicken to make sure all of it is safe to eat because I'm now suffering in a lot of pain and am about to go to...
Read moreGot this via Doordash. Was served on time, still hot. Pad thai had plenty of meat, was mediocre at best. Asked for extra sauce, none was provided. Coconut soup - I'm no chef and I've made better, but it was MUCH better than other delivery restaurants pretending to serve "Thai" food. But it had cherry tomatoes in it - really???? Kinda odd - my husband would have thrown it out but I happen to like tomatoes, so ok. I'd give them another try - but I'd call this time to make sure they can understand my order. UPDATE: They added peanut sauce to the side menu, and I missed it. I called to ask my DoorDash driver to add it and let them charge me -they gave it to me for free. WELL DONE! I will definitely order again. So sweet of them to do that for me, gives me faith in the world. 2ND UPDATE: Y'all seemed to forgot what "peanut sauce" is. I had a conversation with you on the phone, saying I would order it - emphasizing that I DID NOT WANT the spicy sauce. PEANUT SAUCE. You said you understood. And I get the spicy sauce. Y'all know my number, call me with my discount. BTW I had to make my own peanut sauce because your chef is inept. If he needs lessons I can show...
