King Buffet — Restaurant in Rothschild

Very poor customer service We had only been to this restaurant once years ago, but tonight we went for the second time in 4 months. Both times the food was good overall. Some of the chicken was overcooked and some of it wasn’t hot but that is to be expected in a buffet. It was clean and pleasant inside.

But both times, the service wasn’t just bad, it was non-existent. When we went in, a table was pointed out to us, no words. The waitress came over and said “drink”. My husband asked what soda they had. She said Pepsi products so he ordered a Mountain dew and I ordered water. The waitress dropped off the drinks as she was walking past the table. No words were exchanged, no menu was left and we just sat there for a while waiting for her to come back. We never got a “do you need a menu, do you want the buffet, please go up when you are ready, please use a clean plate each time, so how is everything, do you need anything? Nothing. My husband had been planning on ordering off the menu that he had seen in the window but as we didn’t even have menus at our table and our waitress never came back, we both just decided to get the buffet. Twice someone came by and just said “soda”? Part-way through the meal, a bill was laid on our table, again with no words. No “please pay me when you are ready, please pay at the front, how was everything, hope you come back again”. Nothing. When we paid up front, we were met by a stony gentleman who also didn’t say anything except “sign”. I am a little shocked at the reviews that say the service was pleasant. I went in to get some lunch while I got some work done on my laptop. Unfortunately, there was no signal in the building and something in the building blocks the hotspot from my phone, whatever, not their fault really. Also, when I entered, there were only 3 tables, 2 of which were near where they sat me with 2 gentlemen. Very loudly and obnoxiously chewing with their mouths open.Also not their fault, but really put me off. While I was at the buffet, getting my plate of food, one of that gentlemen hovered over me the entire time, breathing down my neck, not even exaggerating, I could feel it.It was gross. After I got back to my table, other tables started trickling in all but one were set directly at the table surrounding me, making it very claustrophobic and hot. I started sweating while trying to eat my food to the point where I rushed just so I could get out of there. We went to king buffet about 630pm, no crowd, about 3 to 4 tables had patrons. we were seated immediately, ordered our drinks and went to the buffets. Very little choices, most "pans" were 3/4 empty or already empty. we chose what we could that was available (hind sight being 20 20, we should have just left) and sat down. assuming there would be refills coming. We were there about an hour max and in that time only 1 dish was refilled and not to full capacity. unfortunately the food was just lack luster to say the least. the wonton's had no flavor at all, just plain cream cheese, chicken wings were completely dried out, and egg rolls were inedible. Other customers were coming in the whole time we were there, again no refills. They kept going up and "stirring" what little was up there. they were quick to refill your beverage, thank goodness since that was the only way you were going to get to not leave there hungry!
