Julio's Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Round Lake Park

Stopped by today to get some lunch with one of my co-workers, and i would have to say i am very dissatisfied. First and foremost, my expectations are very high when it comes to Mexican being that its very simple and not much science to it. My co-worker and i ordered 2 gorditas de asada, 1 tostada de ceviche and 1 sope de al pastor. Our meats were swapped and received the gorditas with carne of al pastor instead of asada, i said to myself " Okay, its a geniune mistake not a big deal" went ahead and started to eat my meal. Sure enough, come to find out that the carne was not even cooked completely still very chewy and raw looking. Same concept applied to the carne asada, not cooked well and very chewy. All in all the food was by far one of the worst experiences that ive had in a great while, not sure if it was the cook, meat or just the day but the experience was not the greatest. I'm sure others have had better experiences than i have but i am convinced otherwise that the food is the worst in the area. Save your self a headache and potential food poisoning and visit " Rancho Nuevo" much better...

Been looking for a Mexican restaurant that doesn't taste like all the rest of them and I think we found it in Julio's! First time EVER that I've ordered a gordita that wasn't dripping in oil, overstuffed, and hard to eat! I was able to hold it in my hands and not one bit of oil on my hands...wow!

Ordered one taco de tripa, extra crispy, and it was exactly what I hoped for. The other taco was lengua, which was good, but not great...I still really enjoyed it. Here's a first, too...the tacos didn't fall apart after the 15 minute drive home, which is almost unheard of! Again, no oily mess on the tacos.

My husband got a steak burrito that he said was really good, along with a taco al pastor that impressed him, because it wasn't swimming in oil!

The rice and beans were on point and tasted like the beans I make in my own kitchen...NICE!

If I could give them 10 stars, I would. Everything was as expected and hoped for and we're excited to try something new next week!

Excellent customer service over the phone and very honest people, I asked for a soup (late on Sunday)and the gentleman said the soup was not as good as they prefer to sell it anymore. That made me fill as when you go to your relatives home. The food was properly wrapped and it was Great food too. Exelente servicio al cliente, gente muy honesta me senti como en casa de mis familiares. Pedi caldo y el señor no me lo vendio por que ya era tarde de domingo y el caldo ya estaba muy hervido. Wow! Que negocio va a cuidar tu salud envez de hacer dinero, verdad? La comida esta tambien exelente y propiamente envuelta. Me han ganado como cliente fiel.
