This business engages in invasive surveillance of its employees. The owners constantly monitor video and audio feeds, listening to both staff and customer conversations. Team members work in an environment of fear, unable to openly discuss issues or concerns without facing backlash. Even minor mistakes are met with harsh reprimands, and employees are often treated poorly.
High turnover is no mystery here—new faces are always cycling in because the owners regularly hire young, inexperienced workers who are easier to manipulate. The workplace is steeped in drama, largely due to the toxic behavior of the owners.
Employees are forced to take unpaid breaks, even during short shifts of just 3 to 5 hours. If they refuse, the owners penalize them by deducting an hour from their pay. Favoritism runs rampant, especially when it comes to distributing tips. Customer tips are withheld and then unfairly allocated based on hours worked, often leaving some staff with just $5–$10 for two weeks of service.
At one point, they even appointed a 17-year-old as manager to avoid paying a proper manager’s wage.
Whether or not you enjoy the smoothies, supporting a business that operates unethically only allows this kind of treatment...
Read moreJust left for a different location because the only employee working refused to speak to me. I was the only one in the store. It looked like he was working on to go orders. I eventually went and sat down after about five minutes, figuring either he would let me know when he was ready, or maybe someone else would come out? After five more minutes of him saying nothing, I walked up and asked about ordering, or if it would be better if I went through the app - I’m not exaggerating, he wouldn’t look at me, and he just kept working. I literally went “hello??” after i realized he was really just going to keep ignoring me, he still didn’t look at me. I felt invisible, it was such a strange interaction. He finally looked up when I said nevermind and left. Drove 15 extra minutes to the Parker drive location. They were lovely. But I am in disbelief that in an empty store, I couldn’t get the one employee working to acknowledge that I was even there. So freaking weird. Pics to show how dead the...
Read moreWe went to this smoothie king at 6:45 pm on April 10th. No one said "hello" or "can I take your order" or anything. Two teenage girls were working. We ordered two 32 oz smoothies. They prepared a 32 oz smoothie (with 2 inches missing from the top) and a 20 oz smoothie. When I told the girl we ordered two 32 oz smoothies, she just looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. The girls had absolutely no personality or customer service training whatsoever. And to think the credit card reader asks you to add a tip! Ha! A tip so you don't get what you order? A tip so you don't even get any sort of acknowledgement that you walked into their place of business? The girls that were working that shift must really hate their lives. If they enjoyed working, I sure couldn't tell. I won't be giving them any further business. However, at $16 for two smoothies (one wasn't full and the other wasn't even what we ordered) I'm sure they'll stay in business a long time with...
