Letâs start off by saying service was amazing from start to finish. (10/10) Dennis was our main server but a couple of other people came by to make sure we were well taken care of. Everyone was very attentive and really friendly.
Food: we ordered a plethora of things for the table. I would like to start off with The Fire Kracker shrimp- the shrimp were large, juicy, and full of flavor! Probably one of my favorite things I tried that night. The side of rice definitely completed the dish perfectly. You can obviously order that dish for lunch and be satisfied as the serving sizes are more than enough.
The fried catfish basket with Cajun fries- I personally donât like to order fish at restaurants but my husband seemed to be a huge fan! According to him the fries were the perfect crispness and just delightful.
Fried oysters- Iâm more of a raw oysters with a side of mignonette kind of gal but for fried oystersâŠWOW! Super flavorful and not gummy, watery, or anything. I would definitely like to try the fried oyster Poboy next because of this dish.
King crab, mussels, shrimp boil bag- FANTASTIC! The sauce was A1 and personally I believe the âsauceâ is the main reason why you would come to The Bayou Shack. I honestly thought the spice level was perfect (although I would like to try the next level) but when youâre sharing with a group this level was perfect.
The prickly pear & margaritas- beware one of these will have you on your back pockets but thatâs not a bad thing. The perfect amount of sweetness and fruit flavor. I would definitely like to try the other flavors next time!
Thank you to The Bayou Shack for a great experience while visiting Austin, TX.

Read moreThis place was recommended to me by a friend that frequents here 2 or 3 times a month. I drove in from Eagle Pass to visit her, and I was craving seafood. She sent me here. I literally tried to get a little bit of everything!!! Lol. But, I got most of it to go. I dined in and ate fried oysters, fried soft shell crab, and gumbo. I took almost everything you can put in a boil to go. The food was good. My server was attentative and pleasant. I left a good tip. However, when I made it to eagle pass and looked in my to go boil bag, the 1 lb of green mussels were missing. I contacted my friend, told her if she went back to try to get $14 with of food to cover what I paid. If not, oh well. Well..... She went back 2 days later, showed them my receipt, and the cook and the owner were rudely adamant that they did indeed give me my full order. I spent $154 sans tip. Why would I lie about $14? And more importantly, why would a faithful patron of your estsblishment for the past 6 months lie? I was disappointed. I try to be mindful of my dollars, and spend them in black owned, minority owned, environmentally/socially conscious places. The disappointed lies not in them refusing to give $14 worth of product, but in the way the situation was handled. Lesson learned. Check your order before you leave and if it's wrong, be prepared to fight....
Read moreExcellent place for crawfish and shrimp boils. Staff is super friendly and energetic. Atmosphere is great and lively.
We've been a couple times now and usually get crawfish and shrimp. Presentation is in the usual bag delivered on a tray. Price seems a dollar or so cheaper than anywhere else in the area.
Food is pretty good and you can tell the potential is there. The size is very good. However, we've noticed a little bit of inconsistency with how each element of the boil is cooked. Sometimes the crawfish is overcooked and falls apart. The corn sometimes wasn't as hot as the rest of the items. It wasn't so bad that we didn't enjoy our meal. The shrimp though seems to be more consistent. Overall we were satisfied.
This next part is more subjective. The medium level spiciness is decent but the jump to the next tier up was big. We also didn't enjoy the taste as much. Wish they had a tier in between. We tried their different flavors as well. We liked their standard season over their "bayou" seasoning but again, that's just opinion.
Overall, we are sure to come back. The place is good but be sure to plan to wait a little bit since this is a popular...
