Absolutely Edible Cakes & Catering — Restaurant in Rowlett

Customer Service: Although there are a few that are not as pleasant as Nikki J, I won't allow those few to tarnish the customer service experience here. For the most part, everyone is treated with love & respect! I've known about Absolutely Edible Cakes & the Sweet Potato Thang way before the Keith Lee Effect. I don't recall her ever offering food outside of catering until now, so it's been cool getting to try more options on her menu.

Desserts: My favorite desserts are The Hummingbird Cake & the VEGAN Sweet Potato Thang!!! That VSPT has such a richness in flavor, and the crust is more solid than the non-vegan. I get it anytime it's available. Can't wait to try her Pecan Pie Cobbler & Bread Pudding.

Drinks: The red drink is simply red kool-aid, but the Magic Orange Tea is so good!!! She has a new Tropical flavor (lighter orange drink), and although it's good, it is super sweet. I had to dilute it with water. I'm a Sweetsaholic, so not often do I say something is too sweet. LOL!

Now to the food items...

Dirty Rice: 2 out of 5 Cooked perfectly but was pretty bland. I had to add a little salt to bring out the flavors.

MAC: 1 out of 5 The flavor was there, but it was super runny. Even the next day, it had not solidified.

Fish + Spaghetti: 5 out of 5 Fire!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Greens: 1 out of 5 Cooked well, but were bitter.

Fried Chicken Wing: 4 out of 5 My only issue is the size! I prefer regular sized wings. I'm a texture person, so this is a preference. That Magic Dust is fire!!!

Oxtails: 3 out of 5 Seasoned well and very meaty, but weren't completely tender. 😕

Cornbread Dressing: 5 out of 5 Fire!!!!! 🔥🔥 Loved the texture. Loved the taste.

Yams: 4.5 out of 5 Although some parts were stringy, they were flavored very well!! I tasted the butter, the spices, everything. They were so good!! 😋🤤

Banana Pudding: 2 out of 5 I believe they use condensed milk in theirs, and it was ok for me.

Strawberry Cake: 1 out of 5 I tasted the artificial flavoring, and it was a bit dry. I gave it to someone who loves strawberry cake, and they enjoyed it.

Cajun Pasta: 4 out of 5 She graciously offered to make mine without shrimp, and that was greatly appreciated!!! The noodles were perfectly cooked, and I loved the flavor of the sauce. I wish it was spicy!!!

Green Beans: 5 out of 5 Fire!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Corn: 4 out of 5 Nicely seasoned.

The "Que" Cup: 5 out of 5 Fire!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Can't wait to explore more of her menu!!!!! The good thing about her serving food only 2-days a week (Weds + Fridays) it keeps us in anticipation to try the rest of her menu! Follow her social media pages to keep up with schedule/menu changes.

I just left this establishment today and when I tell yall I spent some money, I spent some money lol. I made so many purchases, auntie threw in a free sweet potato pie (and OMG, it melted in my mouth. Like God Himself touched it)

So overall, the experience was wonderful. All the staff including our Auntie Nikki were very sweet. The food was DELICIOUS. Things ordered: Fish Plates (x2) Dressing & dirty rice Dressing & Potato Salad Chicken Plates (x2) Double Mac Spaghetti & Potato Salad 1 Koolaid 2 Lemonades 2 Red Velvet Cakes 2 Cookies & Cream Cheesecakes 1 Peach Cobbler

Below are the issues I encountered (granted, some of them are my fault for not double-checking and showing up at 6pm)

I ended up with 1 chicken wing plate and 3 fish plates instead of the ordered 2 & 2 (but I wasn't mad, it was DELICIOUS haha) -They were out of Dressing and Potato Salad, so I had to substitute some of those for coleslaw, spaghetti and mac & cheese (as stated earlier, I got there at 6pm when they stopped serving at 7pm, so that was on me) After I placed the order, they came out and told me they didn't have enough of the switched items (Mac & cheese) to cover the remaining orders so I had to change again I never got the koolaid (I never double-checked my bags until I got all the way home) They gave me 2 cookies & cream chocolate cake and not the cheesecakes I ended up getting 2 lemonade cakes and not Lemonade juices (again, I wasn't paying attention when she put the items in the bag and just paid for it)

Overall great experience. I spent waayyy too much money, but I'll definitely be back and will be double-checking all of my orders...

This experience has been good and frustrating. I won't hold my 2 hour round trip drive on them. I've wanted to try this for almost 2 years. Life has been lifing. Anyways I decided to take the drive. I waited an hour, which I didn't mind b/c I get it. I have worked in the service industry for many years. The food that I got was really good. It was real, seasoned and cooked well. I said the food that I got b/c 2 of the 3 plates were wrong. They were wrong when I went to the counter and taken to the back fix by adding mac n cheese. I should have checked the plates before I left but I didn't think that was a difficult fix. About 10 minutes into my hour drive home I realized I wasn't given 2 peach cobblers ($8 peach cobblers). I didn't have to time to go back so I called and was told to text on Tuesday...I did. I texted again on Thursday b/c no reply. On Friday I posted a message on a FB page add b/c there's no option to PM the business. I received a response on Saturday to which I replied. It is now Tuesday and I have no resolution. At this point, I don't expect one. I spent $184(including about a $20 tip) for 3 plates and 4 desserts. It was not cheap! Good food, terrible customer service.
