My son stopped in there last Saturday to get fudge that his fiance requested for her birthday. He knew we would like it, so he picked up 3 lbs. of chocolate fudge-2 for them and 1 for us. Honestly, I haven't purchased it for many years, because when I've picked up individually wrapped pieces in other locations they supply, I always thought it was just OK. It seemed not always as fresh as I would want, (not as creamy), and it also always seemed to taste like it had had a bit of salty taste to it. I preferred 2 other establishments for fudge and dark chocolate pecan turtles. I don't know if Winfrey's makes the turtles we like, but I'll find out tomorrow when I plan on going by their store on Rt.1 in Rowley, MA. Now as for the fudge that my son brought to us last Sat. I was expecting the same as I had always sampled as mentioned above. A BIG FAT RETRACTION on an old opinion! It was absolutely delicious, (which is why I'm going back tomorrow!) It was creamy, probably because it was more recently made, since it's was coming right from the source. Now the taste, and I had it many times in the past, and always thought it wasn't quite as "chocolaty" as I wanted, but worse, I always tasted salt. Many recipes have a pinch of salt, but they're making it on a larger scale, so I always thought that someone must be too heavy-handed on the salt and maybe it wasn't added precisely with machinery. I really have no idea what the reason is, or how that make it, or may e even my taste buds have changed and they aren't doing anything different! In any case, it is no longer an issue. I can truly say now that it's delicious-I love it, and will be a regular customer! I hope they have dark chocolate pecan turtles too, like the other homemade candy establishments I have gone to in the past. I also wonder how often they make their fudge and is there a better day to go to get it the freshest? I'll have to ask. So Winfrey's, THANK YOU-You...
Read moreIt's just not as good as it used to be. Seems like lower quality ingredients pretty much universally. I've tried it several times thinking maybe it was just my taste buds but bought chocolate elsewhere recently and it was superior. Even the Easter eggs I buy each year weren't the same. I have a few people who love the caramallow that said this year it was almost all marsmallow inside,...
Read moreI went there the day before Christmas for my kids candy. They had lots of candy and chocolates that brought back memories from my childhood. Prices were as expected. Dark chocolate peppermint bark, chocolate covered gummy bears and bottle caps are my favorites. Staff is friendly and there is plenty of parking. I would only go there on special occasions. Easter, Christmas,...
