Subpar at best. Few different instances really rubbed me the wrong way and I’ll never go here again. 1.) I ordered delivery to Ipswich. Paid over the phone for 1 GF pizza (which is over $20 btw, already kind of ridiculous). The delivery driver (who wears a kilt, Idk his name) calls me super angry because he could not find my apartment. I told him I’d meet him in the parking lot by my car (gave description of my car). I meet him and tip him a $5 bill (it was all I had on me in cash and almost $30 for one pizza is crazy). He then proceeds to give me a hard time about him not being able to find my unit, was super rude about it to me. I don’t know what he was expecting to achieve out of this. Sounds like a him problem. 2.) The next time I called for delivery the employee on the phone said let me put you on hold, he didn’t press the hold button I heard the entire convo- he says to the delivery driver “Do you want to deliver to Ips.? It’s the girl who gave you a $5 tip last time.” As if $5 tip for ONE pizza is not enough… it was a 25% tip of what I ordered. The employee took my order. And I paid over the phone with my debit card and I added a tip over the phone for the driver and I think I tipped $10 because of the comment he made, which is a 50% tip of what I ordered and should not have felt guilted into tipping more. The delivery driver knocks on my front door, I take the pizza and proceed to go back into my apartment. He knocks on my door and is very rude and berates me for a tip, saying this is how he makes his living, etc. not even in a kind way. I said I paid over the phone and tipped $10 over the phone. Again, I tipped more this time when I should not have felt pressured into doing so only for him to be rude to me, again. The delivery driver called Pizza Factory in front of me and made me give him my debit card and read the employee my debit card numbers over the phone. Allegedly the payment did not go through the first time… and 3.) this happened prior to both instances above. I was working in Rowley, got out of work and called Pizza Factory for a pizza. No one answered the phone. So I drove over there. I was the only customer in the lot and I was parked directly in front of the location and could see all employees inside. I called from my car to order - I watched as no one did anything and completely ignored the phone call. I should have just left, but proceeded to go inside to order and then they took my order. The employees are rude, especially delivery driver. I’m gluten free so limited options, the pizza is way too expensive for what it is and it’s subpar AT BEST. Topsfield House has a $11 gluten free pizza and it’s amazing, plus the staff are so friendly. I guess Rowley House has a GF pizza now but have yet to try it (also not sure the price point). Definitely...
Read moreAfter being a staunch supporter of Rowley House for several years, I can't even imagine going back after trying Pizza Factory. I have tried the cheesesteak calzone, an anchovy and mushroom pizza, a specialty barbecue chicken pizza, steak tip/chicken combo salad, and the buffalo wings.
The calzone: I expected greasy and falling apart, like most local pizza joints would typically serve. I was pleasantly surprised by a well put-together, not at all greasy pocket that I could pick up without dripping grease and bits everywhere. Held up nicely, even when dipping in their (surprisingly tasty) marinara. Tasted just like a cheesesteak sub, except the crust was even better than a fresh-baked sub roll. If I wanted bread, I would just order a calzone with nothing in it and get some butter on there. Perfect.
The pizzas I ordered get similar reviews: not at all greasy or sloppy, even with really oily or messy toppings like anchovy or barbecue chicken. The crust is perfect: crispy without being too tough or brittle, and soft inside without being too doughy. The slices hold up, albeit maybe with the help of the middle-fold strategy.
And what surprised me the most: I ordered a steak tip and chicken combo salad, thinking "hey, I should get some green vegetables in me, let's just pick one that looks decent." The steak tips are absolutely fantastic. Next time I'm just going to see if I can order a whole plate of them. The chicken was absolutely excellent, too. Super moist, soft and delicious, not dry cat food like some pizza places serve. The dressing that comes with it was great, and the pita they provide makes a perfect salad delivery vector.
Excellent stuff. I'm even willing to forgive their overt religiosity what with being closed on Sundays. I think the family that runs it is Greek Orthodox or some such nonsense, but they sure make some amazing pizza and steak tips, so no comment on that front. I'll definitely keep ordering from this place...
Read moreWhile driving down Newbury Turnpike Road in Rowley, we decided to try out Pizza Factory. Looking over the menu we noticed that besides Gourmet Pizzas, they also offered burgers, sandwiches, wraps, calzones, paninis, stir fry, pasta and ziti plates, hot and cold subs, and healthy salads. Was ravenous so my peeps and I ordered a huge lunch starting with the Margarita Pizza. 🍕 It had plump cherry tomatoes, tasty fresh basil, loads of mozzarella cheese, drizzled with honey balsamic vinegar and cooked to perfection. This was award winning that truly satisfies ones taste buds. We fought over who was going to have the last slice. I won, yum in my tum. Then our oversized loaded 🥗salads arrived to our table with soft fresh pita bread and an amazing tasting homemade house dressing which had top secret ingredients. My garden green salad had crunchy cucumbers, iceberg lettuce, red onions, plump ripe red tomatoes, mounds of Feta Cheese and the marinated sirloin tips cooked to perfection along with perfectly seasoned and moistly broiled chicken tenders. My sister had the Tuscan 🥙🥒🥬Spinach Salad that I will order next time. Talk about loaded with deliciousness, this salad had grilled chicken, baby spinach, Gorgonzola cheese, dried cranberries and candied walnuts served with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing. It's just pure gourmet enjoyment but reasonably affordable. We ended up taking our Buffalo Chicken pizza with crumbled blue cheese and red onion home and my guy was glad I did. Do yourself a favor, try this Pizza Factory and Roast Beef Restaurant. You'll satisfy any food cravings you have. Fast, efficient and pleasant service with a smile.
