Golden Chick in Royse City, Texas - A Disappointing Experience
During my recent visit to Golden Chick in Royse City, Texas, I was left feeling deeply unsatisfied with the overall dining experience. Having noticed a steady stream of patrons at this establishment, I decided to indulge in their spicy chicken tenders, which I had been eager to try for some time.
I ordered an eight-tender combo, complete with fries, gravy, a roll, and two zing sauces. Upon reaching the window to pay, I inquired if the gravy was included in my order. The staff member's response was rather curt, suggesting I check the bag myself. After confirming the absence of gravy, I was handed a container of it.
Upon returning home, I discovered that my order was significantly short of the eight tenders I had paid for. Instead, I received three tenders and an inedible piece of hard batter. The tenders themselves were overcooked and tough, rendering them unpalatable.
To add insult to injury, the accompanying fries were cold, undercooked, and virtually frozen. The only redeeming aspect of the meal was the roll, making it difficult to justify the $15 spent on the combo.
Furthermore, the sweet tea pot appeared to be in dire need of cleaning, casting doubt on the restaurant's overall hygiene standards. I have frequented this location several times over the past three years and have consistently found the interior to be unkempt and poorly maintained.
In light of these shortcomings, it is important to approach the numerous five-star reviews without accompanying text with caution, as they may not accurately reflect the quality of this establishment.

The last time it was middle of the day on a Saturday and the same thing they were out and didnt want to cook more. So i walk in after leaving drive thru with the intention of getting the managers name and number off the wall, 3 employees are just standing around 2 is playing in the drive thru and one lady is cooking and I don't see a managers contact so I ask. The young man refused to give it to me. Then he asks me whats the problem. Well the problem is Im trying to order 2 orders of wicked wings and youre only telling me I can have one bc thats all you have left. Why are you always out & its the middle of the day on a Sunday. He offered only ONE order up until that point, now hes willing to cook two but hes not thr cook. So Im wondering why would you tell me I can only order one order and youre not the cook as if I care. The other young lady explains, they only cook one box a day. So im like but when you see that one box is low, why not prep more instead of telling customers youre out. Its unacceptable.
