During the off season - and on a Monday evening- it can be challenging to find a good place for dinner in the Waitsfield area. Thus my partner and I found ourselves at Rumbles with four kids, one of whom requires GF options. We’d been to Rumbles earlier in the summer while attending a company event and the breakfast offerings available at that time had been good. However, sadly, such was not the case for our dinner last night. While the atmosphere of Rumbles is very nice - with a lovely open and airy environment, nice lighting, and plenty of spacious seating - the service and food were less so. It wasn’t very busy during our time there, and yet it took what seemed to be ages for our food to come out. Nothing fancy, either. Wings, fries, some burgers, and a couple of salads. But all four kids, usually not impatient for food, were expressing impatience by the time the food arrived. Sadly, when the food did arrive, it just wasn’t great. Worse, it’s expensive. Granted, this is a restaurant located at a ski resort and this you have to expect it to be a bit pricey, but for those prices you also should expect the food to be memorable for good reasons. It was simply “ok”. And that’s not good enough at those prices. Ultimately, even with limited options, you should look elsewhere for...
Read moreThursday night is sushi night. Many sushi options plus regular menu. Sushi is very good!
Ļ loop 1/1/2022 for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised. The Autumn Bounty salad with honey mustard dressing was very good. Plenty for two to share. Both pasta, Wild Mushroom Pappardelle and Pumpkin Squad Ravioli, were in cream sauce. A non-cream based option would be nice. Cheesecake and key lime pie were both made in-house and very good.
Communication with the restaurant is difficult (impossible). No one answers the phone and no answering machine. You are directed to the website for reservations, which doesn't work and you are told to call the restaurant.
Visited again on 11/20/21. New menu! The kale Caesar is great. Loved the tuna tartare. Highly recommend the shrimp and grits. Both desserts - blueberry cheesecake and choc mousse cake are very good.
Ordered takeout online. The brussels were good but a little salty. Rumbles Greens salad was a good size for sharing. Lots of great flavors. The polenta and the gnocchi were okay. A whoopie pie is sharing size and just okay - more like biscuits than cake, dry and crumbly. Wine by the glass $15. A lot of outdoor seating and fire pits. Will try again, ordering...
Read moreI have a lot to say about this place, let’s start with the positives. The inside of this restaurant is incredibly stunning and very comfortable. Also the managers were quite nice to us while we were dining.
Unfortunately the service was painfully slow, it took around 40 minutes to get our food (mind you, there weren’t many people in the restaurant while we were dining). To add insult to injury, they served our appetizers and entrees at the same time, which is a big no-no for me.
My “Chicken on a Brick” dish was very delicious, the honey Sriracha sauce complemented the chicken well. I can’t say many good things about my garlic Parmesan fries though. They were so salty that I thought I would have a stroke while eating them. I couldn’t get myself to finish the fries, and I never waste food!
My father ordered the salmon rice bowl he said that it was great! Unfortunately the salad he ordered had no dressing on it.
One thing you NEED to know before coming here is that it is a cashless establishment, meaning you must have a credit card to buy food from here. I know at least one person out there must not have a credit card, so if you dined here, you would be in...
