El Jarrito Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Ruston

I really enjoyed my food a El Jarrito's tonight. I ordered the Molcajete and it was delish! Even one person sitting close asked what I was having because it looks so good. We had a time finding the restaurant at first because we are from out of town and Google Maps took us to the old location. You really should get with Google and update your location to make it easier for others to find you. If it wasn't for the hotel management giving us an idea where you were at we would have never found you. I really enjoyed the environment, the service was good, and the music was great. Usually when I go to a Mexican restaurant you hear the old Ranchero type music and they had more urban new Latin music playing throughout the time we were there and enjoyed it more. The chips and salsa was also very good and I couldn't stop eating them. The water from the tap was good too. The waiter even joked with us and he said that he would get us some nice fresh water from Mexico which we all thought was funny. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the mood for Mexican. It is right across the road from the Log Cabin Restaurant. Just look for all the neon lights. I will never ever ever give business to this place nor will I refer anyone to eat here. The owners are prejudice and rude. My mother ordered tacos and got a burrito. The waitress's customer service was very nasty and negative as she went back and forward with my 80 yr old mother. U proceeded to ask for a manager to rectify this horrific situation and that was a mistake. I explained to him our problem, that the waitress gave my mother the wrong order and the complaint was not honored in fact the owner was worst. He told us that the customer was not always right and that the food was way too expensive to take back and be exchanged without being paid for first. He also told us that it was family owned and that we never had to come back to his establishment. He even said if the food was not paid for that he would call the police. I am a guest here in Ruston and have never had a bad experience. Ruston has always been a very dignified and respectful place to visit. The people strive to show all passers thru Southern hospitality at it's finest but this experience with these people brought a total shock to my normal laid back comforting experience here. So visiting this restaurant for the first time, I’m from Georgia. Ciara is our server and I ask her for drink specials. Ciara tells me they have but one get one free margarita’s. I’m like cool. So I ordered and my mom ordered one since she was on my ticket. We ordered our food and it was not the best. I LOVE LOVE MEXICAN and I’ve ate at a lot of Mexican restaurants and by far this one was the worse. What made it worse is at the end, Ciara tells us the SPECIAL is per person. I’m like well you didn’t say that initially and since I have my mom on my ticket that’s my second drink. Then she tells the manager and he tries to explain then tells us he is going to charge for plastic ware. I’m like huh, then he says they are not. Then Ciara brings the bill out and never asked if we were together or separate. Then the bill has a service fee and I ask what’s that for she said for using a credit card but again that was not relayed and how do you know we were using a credit card? Oh and to top it off she tells me she has been a SERVER there for 2 years, andddddddd! Not sure what her point was! Overall customer service was terrible and the food was not good. I WILL NOT BE...
