So, I went into Ice Cream Charlie’s years ago and for whatever reason I never went back, (keep reading I promise this is a positive review), & Mike's Ice Cream in Secaucus closing was basically the end of an era for my ice cream addiction. When I was pregnant I was there at LEAST four times a week, no wonder I gained so much weight 😂. AND that craving never went away after I gave birth. It could be 10am or 3am or any time in between and I’d be craving an Oreo ice cream from Mikes. I always stocked up on their pints to make sure I had it easily available. Sadly when they closed my craving was still here, I ran out of pints, and I had to find a place to fill that void in my stomach & heart. I went through an ice cream identity crisis—Carvel, Dairy Queen, Cake & Cone, Ben & Jerry's... it was like a bad blind date after another. Nothing quite hit the spot like Mike's Oreo goodness.
But then, like a dairy-filled miracle, I rediscovered Ice Cream Charlie's, (still unsure as to why I never went back in the first place) and it was like reuniting with an old friend who never judged my late-night cravings. And to find out they're in cahoots with Mike's? The owner of this place and Mike were really close friends. It's like ice cream conspiracy theory, but tastier! Now I’m back in the game, stocked up on a pint and ready to conquer those cravings like a true dessert warrior. The chocolate peanut butter also got a huge thumbs up from my friend. I can’t wait to add this place to my weekly routine. Who knew ice cream could have such a plot twist?
Only downside is it’s Cash only, but that just means have your...
Read moreI’ve been here a bunch of times through the years and overall it’s a costly event each time for just ok ice cream.
Last week while the girl was putting the ice cream in the container my wife noticed a hair. She agreed and threw it out and started over again.
A week later we gave them another chance and this time two hairs. Seemingly only in the almond coconut ice cream. Just like the week before. Only thing was this time we were back at home trying to enjoy it. Short lived. We called them and whoever answered could only say that they would tell the girls. Not even an apology or offer to make it right. Hence the review and a warning for you that you might get things in your ice cream that you don’t want and no one cares to make it right. But make sure you bring cash. Well, I’ll keep my cash and move on.
Enjoy your hairs with some...
Read moreMy Indian friend and I went into the store and were treated differently than the White customers. While serving us, the server ignored my Indian friend, and would only speak to me while refusing to make eye contact. I had ordered a chocolate soft serve with sprinkles, and when my friend had a question about adding oreos, she pretended not to hear. I had to repeat her question, and then the woman rang us up, without asking my friend if she wanted ice-cream. You might assume that she thought we were sharing the ice-cream, but she only gave us 1 spoon. A white family came in after us, and there was an immediate increase in the pitch of her voice and friendliness. She made eye contact with them, and served them with the respect I had expected but had not received. I will not be coming back due to this encounter and...
