Jones Donuts & Bakery — Restaurant in Rutland City

So I tried a year or so ago and wasn't impressed. I tried again and this time it was down right disappointing. I got an eclair, and to be honest the boxed kind at the grocery store are higher quality..... and I am all about homemade goods. The filling was not the custard like filling you expect from a bakery eclair, but was instead vanilla pudding, which based on flavor and consistency seemed to be from a can. Instead of a chocolate ganesh on top it was a not very good chocolate frosting that wasn't evenly spread at all. It, again, tasted like canned frosting. Been working nights in rutland and discovered this place. Being from New York originally I could’ve sworn I was back at home with the quality of the food. The donuts are super super fresh and so good and the apple fritter was even better. I believe one of the Owners or at least mangers helped me out this morning, as soon as I walked in the door I was greeted and taken care of and just enjoyed friendly conversation. Jones Donuts & Bakery make the best donuts, hands down. They are better than any other donuts anywhere. They have been making donuts for over 100 years. If you stay in business that long, you must be doing something right. They make all types of donuts and pastries but our favorites are the maple glazed or the maple cream filled donuts, simply delicious. They are closed on Monday and Tuesday.
