This place had really good reviews so I think I will give it another try. I ordered a small ice cream (one scoop) with chocolate jimmies and chose a waffle cone. The menu was vast and wonderful. There were so many different varieties , so many unique types of ice cream and a big sign that says they make their own. We tipped well because despite there being a lot of people there , they had every window open ,each window was attended by a person taking orders, and there were staff in the back making ice creams. Everyone was on point and moving the crowd as fast as possible . They had a very well organized , polite and motivated staff.

3 stars for atmosphere . There was plenty of parking but I don't recall picnic tables or an area to sit at. The place was clean overall.

3 stars for the food. For my scoop of ice cream , I chose the Almond Joy. I had high hopes as that is one of my favorite things. It took a while but the cone came out , it was jam packed , it was covered in jimmies and it tasted amazing. The reason why it got 3 stars was because every lick uncovered a whole almond. Every bite was a literal mouth full of almonds. By the time I was finished , I had eaten an entire snack size bag of almonds in one single scoop of ice cream. It was MOSTLY almonds. I wish I knew , I would not...

The hard ice cream tends to have a bit of an after taste, somewhere between the flavor of a flat soda water or baking soda. The chocolate flavors taste more like vanilla rather than a rich chocolate flavor. It just may be the additives, food coloring, or preservatives that create this less than desirable flavor.

Portions are large, largely because the ice cream is more air than cream.

The soft serve ice cream and hot fudge are excellent.

I agree with a previous post regarding debit cards. Lago's definitely should accept them. Stillwell's accepts them. Annabelle's accepts them. The Beach Plum accepts them. All of these places have similar portion sizes and prices. I do not accept that they are passing on any savings to customers by not accepting credit cards. Many published studies have proven consumers spend more when using a debit card vs. cash. Hence, this is why most food service places accept them. If I am going to pay $9.75 for a Brownie Sundae at Lago's, I would expect them to accept a debit card. The ATM on site wants to charge me $4.00 as a service fee, whereas the debit card transaction would be fractions of a penny for Lago's. Prices increase steadily each season, so why not roll it up into the cost...

Decent ice cream, friendly service, and a good location. They are cash only, but if you don’t bring cash they have an ATM. Flavors we got were all very sweet and the serving sizes were generous. The small cup that I got was the biggest ā€œsmallā€ cup of ice cream that I’ve ever seen. This wouldn’t be a problem, except that they won’t let you split a small into two flavors. I didn’t even want two flavors, but with how large the smalls are here it seems absurd to not allow them to be split into two flavors. I could be wrong, but I didn’t think the Oreo in the ā€œOreoā€ ice cream I got was real Oreos. They tasted more like the knockoff ā€œsandwich cookiesā€ than real Oreos, which I also like. Didn’t really take away from the experience, but it seems misleading to call it Oreo ice cream if they aren’t real Oreos. A few flavors my FiancĆ© got were supposed to have Oreos and Nutella swirls in them and we struggled to find Oreo bits or defined Nutella swirls in either of her flavors. It’s ice cream though, can’t be mad at something so delicious, but it is something to keep in mind. The convenient location on such a main road and variety of flavors make this place hard to pass up if you’re in the mood for ice cream and passing by....

CASH ONLY! There’ an ATM on site but CASH ONLY. We live a few minutes away, so visit frequently, and we still always forget cash. Huge selection of homemade ice cream in all sorts of amazing flavors. I can’t even tell you my favorite. My husband loves the baklava and my daughter loves the cotton candy (she’s 4 haha). Lots of open windows in the summer and it moves fast so don’t be worried about the long lines. The serving sizes are enormous. I promise you only need a baby sized serving. Even that is giant and often too much for my daughter. Half the time my husband and I share a baby sized cup. A big enough parking lot but I really, really wish they’d put out more seating. There’s a handful of picnic tables but not nearly enough for busy summer nights and many people end up eating in their car, which I hate. Even just a bunch of Adirondack chairs around the grassy field would be great.

Great ice-cream!! And service!! Plenty of parking. A fixture on RT.1. I miss their old sign. I have been visiting since I was a kid. I had the German chocolate cake. Chocolate ice-cream with coconut and pieces of brownies. Yummy! I recommend a visit! Cash only. Remember to tip! Update: Sunday, September 2020; I had the Funky Panda 🐼, Oreo cookies with coconut 🄄 and caramel swirl. Very sweet and tasty. My son had chocolate šŸ«, which he enjoyed. Sugar cone placed on top of each, cone included in price if you have it in a dish. Small looks like a large. Mats placed for distancing. Friendly service. Reasonable prices. They gave my son and my friend a small instead of a kiddie size. My friend ordered a ice cream sundae and she got more than she expected. She enjoyed the sundae. She had Raspberry Oreo in hers. Orange šŸŠ sherbet, great on a 100° day! Oreo šŸ¦ Ice-cream is good for a sweet tooth!
