All of the drinks are good and the differences in the drinks are actually noticeable, giving everything a unique flavor. I almost always get the Irish coffee with an extra shot in it, and it is always a great start to my morning or a great pick me up to get through the rest of my day. The seating is kind of weird and the outlets are pretty much limited to the tables set up by the wall, a huge missed opportunity is not having outlets by the areas that have a bar like the window seats or right in front of the cashier. The music is a but loud for studying, but its nothing some headphones can't fix.
However, there is one GLARING and RECURRING problem. The consistency is extremely poor, and this isn't just from my experience. My friend always gets the oreo chiller, but the only time he said it was perfect was the very first time he had it. Every other time the drinks wasnt blended well enough and always has ice chunks left over. Another case was actually just today. My girlfriend asked for her Hazelnut latte extra sweet while I ordered my usual Irish coffee with an extra shot, but instead they made mine extra sweet. I asked them if they added the extra shot like I requested, and they said they did but they'd gladly add another one. Unfortunately it wasn't enough, so I had to throw the drink away. The time before I ordered my same drink while my friend ordered a Carmel blonde chiller, and that time they added an extra shot in the chiller and made it so thick and chunky that it would fit through the straw. Again they did fix it upon my request, but I'd like the drink right the first time you know? I would understand if it was family owned, but being a chain makes it kind of ridiculous, especially if you're in a rush.
Also worth noting, alternative milk options also ALWAYS ruin the drink. As a lactose guy, I need almond milk, so it kind of sucks that I have to compromise on either a trip to the bathroom or a good drink. You can test this out yourself, because for some reason they take all of the sugar out of your drink if you request alt milks.
Overall the drinks are extremely tasty (when made properly) and the environment is nice enough to justify studying or going on a little date if you can get over the loud music. I want to give this place a 5 star because it's an excellent coffee shop for the small town of Sachse, but the drinks coming out right only about 50% of the time is almost ludicrous from a chain coffee shop. It would probably help if they put labels or wrote the drink...
Read moreSome employees are the nicest, while others are not attentive. I like Black rock. Coffee doesn’t taste burnt, their caramel Blondie is the best in the area, HOWEVER, if you have dietary restrictions or allergies - STAY AWAY. It’s a hit or miss with them. I once paid and asked for almond milk, only to find out they’ve given me whole milk. You can tell from the color and taste that it’s whole milk… I turn back around and tell them so they replace it… now it’s right.
This issue happened a second time the other day, and that’s when I got upset (because mistakes happen, but when you spend 3 minutes talking to the lady about your order, and then pull up to the window, only to find someone different who doesn’t seem to have the order right, and hands you a drink without the milk you asked for, it becomes frustrating). I got whole, not almond milk, AGAIN. And with a newborn who’s lactose sensitive, the rest of my day did not go well. PLEASE, when we ask for something, pay attention. This isn’t the first time I’ve felt like employees are negligent and there’s a mistake in the process. Also, the bakery items are too sweet and that takes away from the flavor. The price is also higher for a less amount of coffee. But the quality compensates abit.
I hate to give a not so great review but it happened several times. Also, tip is optional, please don’t hand us a tablet to answer a question. We do not have to tip if we are in a drive thru and ordered something simple through our car. We can ask to tip if we want to… I usually do tip, but not nice to feel forced. Ask for tip from dine...
Read moreGreat hospitality but plenty of nitpicking opportunities - inexplicable absence of labels when two or more cups are ordered, no description of beans or roast that are being used and just token (not even warmed prior to service) choices for solids.
Liked the diverse seating options and, of course, liked the drinks but wished that the hot ones had a slightly more elevated temperature and the cold ones were a little bit easier with ice. The request for light drizzle was fully complied with enhancing the experience.
Above all the Staff were furthest away from monotonic robots that are all too common with the larger chains. Good choice for a pit stop.
Marginally pricier than competitors; not sure whether that is management strategy to ahead of inflation and bean futures but obviously lends itself well to ensuring that customer experience remains a business priority and...
