DO NOT COME HERE. I work for Warner Bros. Discovery, and my team oversaw the Sacramento Horror Film Festival as part of a marketing initiative we are launching this year with an additional film submission. A few team members and I decided to visit your restaurant on Saturday, January 21st, around 8pm, only to be met with the most impolite and ill-mannered customer service and treatment from your kitchen staff and the female server working that evening.
We had been working on the event all day and wanted to stop by your restaurant for a quick bite before finishing up and closing the festival. We sat at an open table after finishing our order, while several diners arrived shortly after. We waited for 30 minutes as we watched those who arrived after us receive their orders fairly quickly and checked in with our server (who refused to give us her name) on the status of our food as we were already running late to the closing acts of the film festival. She said she'd get back to us with an update, but we were met with hostility and rudeness. She didn't come back to us and completely ignored us; after 10 minutes of waiting, we wanted to check in and walked up to her, only to find her laughing in front of what I assume is the restaurant office, and overhearing her making fun of myself and a teammate with other staff member Samuel Olivares.
I inquired about the status of our order because we had not received anything, and she informed us that they had forgotten to make our order. This would not have been a problem because such incidents occur; however, the lack of customer service to provide us with any notice, in addition to bathmouthing myself and my colleague, was extremely out of line and disrespectful. We immediately requested a refund, and this is when our experience took a turn for the worse.
She handed us over to the other server, who was pleasant but had difficulty providing us with the refund. We finally received an update that she had granted it after another 15 minutes. We requested a receipt because we had already waited an hour at the restaurant and wanted the security of verifying because we were traveling from out of town. She let us know that she could not give us a receipt and instead gave us the piece of paper attached stating 'I need a refund - KR'. We were extremely bothered at this point because we had missed the festival's closing points while still remaining hungry. As we were leaving, the other server, who had yet to tell us her name, and the kitchen staff all screamed at us in unison, "BYE" with the most belligerent tone. This completely astounded us and left us in awe that this is how your staff treats customers.
While this incident report may or may not be accounted for, I truly hope that the servers and kitchen staff working that day receive customer service training because this treatment was completely unacceptable and will definitely deter future paying customers from returning. I will be leaving a 1-star review and will definitely let the community know to steer away from...

Read moreThis restaurant deserves an honest review... First, congratulations on being 70 years young!! This is the longest running pizzeria in Sacramento (according to their literature)
I have been coming to Luigi's for 30 years (like many others) I have watched it go through a few different owners and seen how the respective ownerships have handled the restaurant legacy. To be real, before the recent owners (I think they have been in place for about 5 years) took over, the pizza was slipping. It was often soggy and not fully cooked. The dining room was always a little dirty, but I would play Ms. Pacman and look the other way. Still always supported Luigi's, as this is my neighborhood and it was still the best toppings. But you could tell it wasn't very loved anymore. When Celso was here (his name is Celso, not Luigi- there is not and never was a person name Luigi) he was a delight to talk to and to have slice your pizza. Honestly, he always gave me something for free, either my cheesy bread or a ridiculously large foam container of ranch and yes, I took it, but that probably wasn't helping keep them in business. When new owners took over, they immediately cleaned up the place. And made every effort to keep the pie the same, while also improving on the finished product. I went in yesterday and there was music playing, (inside and outdoors), I was greeted as I walked in with friendly "hello". The beer was cold and they had good selections on tap and in the can. My wife had a glass of wine and our friend had a cocktail... (THEY HAVE COCKTAILS!!) and looks like they have some fun liquor nights coming soon. There was a sign in the bathroom that said "Whiskey Wednesdays" I will be back for this!
Our food was delicious. Salad was fresh, Ranch was on point, pizza was hot and topped perfectly. We stayed for another round and played a few video games. This corner of town has seen so many changes over the years. It made me proud that this place, Luigi's, has improved with age and good leadership. It can't be easy to deal with all the haters... Just know there is a lot of love out here too. Do yourself a favor, come eat here, enjoy the vibe. Get out of the box of midtown and Roseville and come to Oak Park. ...
