I am totally blind. I have a service animal. I went with my goddaughter to try and eat at the mimosa house. Unfortunately, we did come in the patio entrance because we did not find the correct door. A staff member approached us and asked us what we wanted to do. I told her we would like to eat at this restaurant. She became very hostile and rude concerning my service animal. It is Sacramento in the summer and it was extremely hot. She suggested that we could sit outside because of my service animal. I told her that it was very hot and we preferred to sit inside. I want to say that I have a strong tie to this restaurant. I have been here and had many amazing occasions specifically one time when the owner was there doing some work at a table nearby and noticed the service animal I had at the time and was very gracious and kind. However, this was not my experience today. The staff member we spoke with was extremely rude and argumentative, and refused to allow us to eat inside. I explained to her that she was a service animal and is allowed in restaurants, according to the Americans with disability act. However, she said that that was not the case, and she was not telling us that we couldn’t eat at the restaurant. We just could not eat inside, which is completely wrong. I have not only eaten at the most mimosa house before, but I have sat inside with my service animal. Continue to be very hostile and argumentative, and we asked to speak to a manager. She stated that she was a manager, and we wanted to speak with someone higher. She tried to push us to a different part of the restaurant, but I felt very uncomfortable and very unsafe and preferred to stay where I was. She did speak with someone higher up named Alexis. I believe Alexis may have explained to her the reason the law but at this point I felt so awkward and so uncomfortable, and so humiliated by this experience that I was very upset and I just didn’t feel like I would have a good experience and no other staff stepped in to help us. We were just standing there awkwardly being refused service and not treated very kindly by anybody. I believe Alexis did say that we could eat there, including the restaurant at that point she offered us a high table. I feel like this staff person was trying to do everything anything to make our experience awful. And then at the end when I asked if she would apologize she gave us a very condescending response. I explained to her that I hope she never was treated this way because of a disability that she can’t control, and her tone was still very rude and insulting. Furthermore, as we were getting ready to leave the restaurant staff as we were walking out, told us in a very condescending way to have a nice day. It was humiliating, I felt discriminated against. And it was embarrassing that the staff person was allowed to behave in this way, and most of the time she prefer to speak to my niece because she is fully sided rather than speaking to me as the person who has been discriminated against I feel awful because I’ve had amazing experiences at this restaurant and actually do go because they have a dog menu but after being treated so poorly by the staff member and others at the restaurant and having my ADA rights violated I do not think this is a place where People should eat when I go to restaurants, I never like to cause a fuss. I like to try to go and eat have a good time and that’s what I wanted to do today. However, the staff treated me horribly like I was less than a human and had absolutely no empathy for my situation and it’s so disappointing because I genuinely have enjoyed myself at this restaurant in the past. The restaurant was not overly full. There was plenty of indoor seating and absolutely no reason for me to be discriminated against have my rights violated, and to be spoken to like I was not welcome in the restaurant. I did nothing wrong. I tried to remain calm and be polite, but it’s hard when you’re beanie so...
Read moreWe have dined at the mimosa house location in Gold River several times always had amazing service and great food. So we decided to try the location on J Street since we were downtown today. Keep in mind it was Sunday primetime brunch time. We were seated promptly by a very friendly hostess and our server greeted us a few minutes later, which gave us time to figure out what we would like on the menu. Although very nice, and I am not sure if it is their policy, he did not write down our order. And also asked again if I wanted hash browns or potatoes while walking away from us.I have no problem with remembering orders like this ,as long as the food comes out right. While ordering I had asked if I could add avocado to my Benedict. He said no problem ,I didn't care about the upcharge. Sidenote, my husband always requests his hash browns to be well done, which they clearly came out normal, also a bit salty for our taste. I did ask the server the difference on the meat choices and he told me he had never tried either of the selections that I was inquiring about. I took a chance on the shorty Benedict which although the meat was tasty, it seemed to have watered down the dish a bit. Honestly I didn't care too much for it and I think you could tell by how much was left on the plate. The avocado that I had requested was non-existent. When I asked about the avocado he said the kitchen forgot it. I inquired if it was added to the bill already he said yes. I politely asked for it to be removed because I just didn't feel like waiting to eat my meal. The server didn't bother to notice or seem to care that I didn't really like the food. I mean if almost over half of the food is left on the plate I would ask if they really liked it. I ate a little bit but just didn't like it that much. In hindsight I guess I should have just gotten the avocado toast. I must point out that in this day and age with prices being so high it would be nice to have a server that would pay attention to what you really wanted and make sure that it comes out the way that you ordered it. We spent over $50 on a brunch out together and honestly I don't know how soon we'll return because I felt like it was wasted money and I felt like the server just...
Read moreAt first glance the mimosa house is a beautiful eatery with its own unique aesthetic. I walked up from the parking lot and could visibly see one employee smoking a thc vape and another smoking a cigarette outside the back door behind the dumpster.
The host was pleasant and our wait was shorter than expected. We sat outside and you could visibly see trash, debris and cigarette butts laying everywhere (you can see some in the picture below but not all). The server came out and complimented my friend on her outfit. But when she took out orders she talked really fast to the point where you almost couldn't understand what she was saying.
As we waited for our food my friend decided to smoke a cigarette considering she saw employees smoking on the property about 10 feet away from the eating area, and countless cigarette butts on the ground. When the waiter returned she informed my friend that she couldn't smoke on the property. When I smoked a regular vape she still made it a point to say something. Despite the litter. Despite the employees. The fact that the litter was there in the first place made me personally feel uneasy. This was just ridiculous.
The food was below par for me. Eggs under seasoned, the ham was flavorless and rubbery feeling. The crepes did not have the proper texture they're supposed to. The biscuits and gravy was okay, the fruit was fresh and delicious the potatoes were amazing (food pictured below). We ordered the flirt and the naughty cupid, AND THEY WERE DELICIOUS. Overall the experience was okay. They do need to clean the outdoor area better or more frequently. And yes we still left a good tip and cleaned up behind ourselves. Service workers are...
