Read moreService here is great and the drinks are amazing too. The hot chocolate is the best I've had in any shop (and second best I've ever had overall) and I really like that their Mexican hot chocolate isn't too spicy.
Service is prompt and precise and the staff are very friendly. Sometimes they do have pastries unavailable though, but many coffee shops suffer from that issue once in a while (though this one steuggles a tiny bit more than most). The place is normally quite clean but slips do happen when a table stands unclean for a while because it's so busy. But overall cleanliness is in the class of cleaner shops.
The atmosphere is alright, with somewhat tall ceilings (I like shorter ones but it's a matter of personal preference) and good seating arrangements. Walls are decorated with pictures like in a general Naked Lounge location. Cushioned seating is available as well if you come at a time that the spots aren't taken, though there is only one armchair. Tables are abundant as well, and there's normally a spot by one if you're willing to settle for non-cushioned seats. WiFi is typically sufficiently fast for school productivity (though it does have some bad days and often times you'll have to reconnect because it slows down as you use it) and the outlet availability is probably the best of any coffee shop in Sacramento. The place is normally quite full, but people don't seem to stay all that long as a rule (though there are always people who work for a long time). Music varies frequently from rock to jazz to classical to dance/EDM etc. and while it's not too loud it's noticeable. I wasn't bothered by it too much when the genres didn't match my taste and enjoyed it when they did. I would definitely recommend this place and an usually productive here, but as I mentioned it does have a few...
Read moreI used to love coming to Tupelo over the years. Practically everyday I was there during college. I had not been back in about maybe 4 years because I no longer live close by. However, today I was close and feeling the need for a pick me up. So I came by also with the idea Id hangout and work on my laptop like I always do. Everything went sour from even before I ordered. I dont have the baristas name but he was a male with a pony tail. As soon as I get to the register to order he is busy on his phone. Says hes been looking at too many screens all day. I brush it off and place my order. I went to go sit down and then I realized I needed the Wifi password. I go back up to him and ask if he knows the Wifi info. He tells me "no its down." Im shocked because there are numerous other patrons on their phones and laptops clearly on the wifi. I ask him again, is the Wifi somewhere labeled. He tells me "no i dont know the wifi I just work here." I glance and notice the Wifi labeled on a sign to the left of the register. Now I understand this guy is likely overworked or understimiulated being the only barista working at this moment. Regardless Tupelo has lost its culture and clearly is pushing drinks instead of quality service. Even though I told him I was drinking it here, he still went ahead and poured it into a plastic to go cup. So he doesnt have to do more dishes? The drink itself tasted mid and look nothing like it used to. Not surprising the internet connection had zero issue. I was disapointed enough to write...
