THE FOOD IS GREAT, BUT THE WAITRESSES ARE PURE EVIL I've been to this place twice with my family of 4, and the first time the food was great, the server was...there. Everything was fine until it was time to pay, I got up and paid at the register and my waiter FOLLOWED ME, which was strange, then FOLLOWED ME CLOSELY back to my table, we were still eating and she hovered over us watching as if she was saying "hurry up". We left $18 for a $95 meal. NOW THE SECOND TIME ( which was today) we get greeted and seated. Went to get food, and everything was good. Our waiter was JENNY, we started eating. Our table was next to the entrance of a room, so the waiters would just hang out there speaking very loudly at the entrance in their language, we tried to ignore and eat. We saw some commotion coming from another table. Something about the check.....(foreshadowing) I didn't put much attention and brushed it off. Our waiter, JENNY, would constantly look at us while we were eating, frequently speaking in her language. (I believe it was madarin) to other waiters . It was very uncomfortable because there were 4 or 5 speaking speaking all at the same time. I believe it was gossip or ridicules to customers because they would point or look at them while speaking to each other. I tried to ignore it since I was with my family, and obviously, they were not gonna be honest with what they were saying. We finally go onto dessert, and my "waiter" JENNY gave us the check. I put it next to me and enjoy my food. BUT JENNY WOULDN'T LEAVE, SHE STAYED NEAR US THE WHOLE TIME, TALKING TO OTHERS IN THEIR LANGUAGE It was very uncomfortable. I finally paid it in cash. Was given my change back. (It didn't have any sweets or treats,) took the money, and the tray of money was empty. (I figured, well, I always leave a tip on the table WHEN we all leave so the waiters just collect their tips) AND JENNY WOULD NOT PICK UP THE TRAY, SHE HOVERED OVER US AND I COULD FEEL HER STARING AT ME THE WHOLE TIME. SOME TABLES WERE DIRTY SHE WOULDN'T LEAVE EVEN SIDE EYEING ME. THIS IS ONE IF NOT THE MOST UNPLEASANT FEELING IVE FELT IN A LONG TIME. Finally tipped her $5 so she would leave (matching the tax fee) she picked it up in discust. I don't speak madarin, but I know she said something mean about me because of facial expressions, and she said something to OTHER WAITRESSES definitely about me, I noticed it because of body language and other WAITRESSES saw me in the eyes like 4 of them. Btw the food gave me a small stomach ache. Besides, I believe tips should go mostly to kitchen staff. To end this review, I have to say that I will never come back here for the lack of respect and peer pressure, especially of the WAITRESSES DEMANDING A TIP. I'VE SEE OTHER REVIEWS AND IT'S THE SAME THING. JENNY IF YOU CAN READ THIS BE KIND TO...
Read moreJust finished eating here a few minutes ago and I wish I could give this place a 0. When I was a kid this place was good but whoever is the new management here has completely run the place down. The beef in the beef & broccoli was completely raw, the food sucked overall it did not look nor taste edible, there was flies on the strawberry cakes, the plates were all soaking wet, there are spills and garbage all over the dining area, the waitresses were all just standing and talking instead of working the tables, and there's so many other things I could say but this post would be too long. I didn't get her name as I barely saw our waitress but she was an older asian lady with a gray ponytail. The whole time me and my family ate she just asked us for what drinks we want and gave us utensils in the beginning but that was pretty much it. To top this all off they charged $70 for all this crap. When the bill came my mother didn't give a tip because the overall experience was terrible and the waitress didn't really give any type of good customer service as she was barely around. When she got the check she started rudely demanding my mother for money and I let it slide the first time around but she kept being aggressive so I had to tell her firmly "Sorry but we're not giving you a tip" which was when she decided to back off. I don't like to assume this but to me it felt like because my mother had an accent the waitress chose to be more rude towards her and when I intervened since I didn't have one she suddenly stopped. I've never seen a restaurant where the workers are so bold to demand a tip when they didn't even try to do their job correctly that's optional not a requirement we don't owe you money your boss does if you don't get paid enough then go work somewhere where they actually pay their workers decently. The way how she spoke to my mother is extremely rude we will not be coming back here after this terrible experience and I don't recommend anyone else...
Read moreI am sitting at No. 1 Buffet right now as I write this review.... The food was somewhat okay depending on if you're accustomed to the cuisine. Me being very skeptical, was hesitant as the majority of the seafood looked like it had just jumped out of the ocean (jumped out of the ocean to sit uncooked only to be cooked days later and then served cold). I'm not sure the food that was from dry land...chicken, beef, pork was labeled correctly. I was somewhat afraid that I was munching down on cat or dog. The sushi was cold and seemed...stale, the coconut shrimp was a disappointment, and the crab was waterlogged.
On the other hand, my fearless girlfriend chowed down on clams, cheese mayo oysters, duck, frog, craw fish, shrimp, crab, strange dumplings that looked like raw eggs, this "Dim Sum"....then again this is the woman that enjoys eating whole baby octopus in sesame oil and seeds-head in all!!!
The bathrooms were very clean surprisingly and there were Hispanics, African Americans, Causians, not just a swarm of Asians.
So in the end come here with a open mind to try some strange things that look like they are looking right back at you.
Food Summary
Sushi- Below expectations (bland)
Frog- Does not taste like chicken, not juicy but oily
Crab- Below expectation. Shell was waterlogged and very difficult to crack . Meat was very salty and cold.
Main course item (fried rice, Lo Mein, Broccoli Beef, Sweet and Sour Pork, Orange Chicken, etc.- Good
Desserts- Above expectation. Nothing real exciting though.
I do not recommend this place for the price and the food. If you want a good place to eat for your buck I recommend you go to Fugi Buffet in Elk Grove off the Elk Grove Blvd exit on Highway 99. But for Fugi always come a little early because there is always a wait for a seat because every Asian in Elk Grove is there... Fugi costs the same with better food and a...
