Though I really do love the beverages that Starbucks in general has to offer, I would have to say that this location isn't my favorite. They totally botched one of the drinks I ordered last time. I guess, if I am being honest, I could cut them a little slack because it seemed like the person making the drinks was probably new. I say that because the guy taking orders and money was telling the other person how to make the drink i ordered. It was a regular menu offering, btw, which was why I hesitated to cut them slack to begin with. I placed my order online and, even though there was no one else in the drive thru line, and it wasn't busy inside, I still had to wait a couple minutes for my second beverage. It was kind of odd because the guy asked me if I wanted the drink that I ordered..or another variation of it - which kind of confused me - and I guess I panicked, so I agreed to the variation, and then I didn't get my drink the way I wanted it, or the way I ordered it!! On top of that, the drink in question was supposed to be iced, and it came with no ice in it! It looked like maybe there had been some ice, but it melted? Either way, it was hugely disappointing. They also served it to me, it looked like, without stirring or mixing it. It was seperated. And since it didn't come with a straw, it was difficult to mix myself, and it splattered on my car when i tried to cover the hole and swirl it. And the drinks there are not friggin cheap, so ... I’ve been ordering the hot Cherry Chai from Starbucks every day since it came out—even though it’s usually served iced, I always ask for it hot. I know it’s not standard, but it’s my daily treat, and I happily spend around $8 for it each time. At my usual location, they always make it just right: piping hot with the cold foam on top, and it tastes amazing.
Unfortunately, the experience at this location has been really disappointing—two days in a row. On the first day, the drink was lukewarm at best, with a weird, gritty texture like something wasn’t fully dissolved. They kindly remade it, and while it was hotter the second time, the flavor still seemed off. To make matters worse, both days I received a grande instead of the venti I paid for.
I gave it another try the next day through the drive-thru. I emphasized that I wanted it hot, but again, it tasted totally wrong. I’m not sure why it’s so different here, or why the baristas seem confused or surprised when I ask for it hot instead of iced.
I know this drink isn’t a typical Starbucks order and it’s probably not on the hot menu, but I’ve had it done well consistently elsewhere.
