T & 5 Bakery Cafe — Restaurant in Sacramento

As I don’t usually leave long reviews, I highly recommend Yvon and her bakery! We came to Yvon with an unusual and detailed request for my wife’s birthday cake — she wanted to combine elements from different sample cakes, had strict ingredient needs (since she wouldn’t be cutting it for a few days until her birthday), and the cake also needed to survive a 2-hour commute (we live far away from the bakery). Despite all these specifics, Yvon was incredibly patient, kind, and thoughtful throughout the process.

From our first conversation, it was clear we were in the hands of a true professional. Yvon listened carefully, took detailed notes, and offered smart, creative recommendations to ensure the cake would be both stunning and practical. Her background as an interior designer and accomplished artist truly shines through in her cake designs — the final product was a masterpiece. The color harmony, the delicate details, the overall structure — it was one of the most beautiful cakes we have ever seen. And not only did it look spectacular, but it also held up perfectly and tasted absolutely delicious, even days later.

Yvon’s passion for her craft, combined with her artistic eye and technical skill, makes her stand out in the world of custom cakes. It’s rare to find someone who pours this much care into both the design and the customer experience. Stopped by to try a slice of their Mango Crepe Cake after finding out such a thing existed and that this cafe sold it. As I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the cashier as I made my way around the small display space. Out on display, they have a variety of pastries with varying degrees of complexity. Simple things such as bread with cream to a croissant wrapped around a hot dog.

The other thing that caught my attention was how clean this cafe was. There was no random items scattered about the cafe, the tables were clean, the chairs were in very good shape. With the amount of tables and power outlets available, you could come in, get something to munch on and get some work done.

Once I realized that the Mango Crepe Cake was no where I could see or within reach, I went up to the cashier and inquired about it. After clarifying that I was looking to purchase a slice, she was able to pull out a packaged slice of the Mange Crepe Cake and quickly rang me up. Considering the amount of work that would have gone into making a Crepe Cake, the $7 price tag for the slice was well within reason.

This slice of Crepe Cake was everything I was hoping for. Super soft and and silky smooth. I was even more impressed with the fact that I could cut through it with a dull plastic fork like a hot knife going through butter. The flavor was spot on, not too sweet, the right balance of cream and fruit that went well together as a cake. Will definitely be stopping by again soon for some more of that Crepe Cake and hopefully try some...

I'm giving it a one-star rating due to a disappointing experience with the service. Despite being a potentially decent place, my encounter with the staff member during checkout on 12/22/23 at 5:30 pm was exceptionally poor. While patiently waiting in line with my items, the person behind me rudely ignored my presence and handed her slip to the employee, claiming a pick-up. The employee tend to her and then after noticing my confusion, responded loudly, insisting on helping me but lacked courtesy. Before we continued, I asked the staff member if she was going to help me or the other person first. She seemed to be upset by that and responded loudly with, “She’s only here for pick up! So what do you need, this is why I am talking to you now and trying to help you!” During my attempt to order a cake, it became evident that it was my first time there. The employee spoke loudly, asked redundant questions, and made me feel ignorant. Feeling super frustrated, I decided not to put in the cake order, and just checked out with the cookies that my son chose out, being there with me.
