Definitely room for improvement, but over what I consider minor things.
You could definitely tell that the employees in the back are overwhelmed at peak times. I do feel sympathy for them because they were completely blindsided by the PACKED opening week. The lines usually went out the door, but with that being said, I think they actually did pretty well.
Inside:
It's quite narrow. There's tables on along the left and right walls. People stand in the middle to form a line to order, sometimes it causes awkward bumps and excuse me's to get by. And there isn't much room to wait inside. Waiting outside might be easier, but it forces the employees to walk out to shout out your order number.
All the times I've been there, they've been clean.
Drinks:
My brother told me that the best way to judge a Boba Milk Tea place is to try their original, or plainest version. The drinks here use REAL tea. I LOVE that. Or maybe they've tricked me well enough. I could definitely see some people saying the drinks are a tad on the "too much sweet" side, but I'm crazy for sweets and you're definitely allowed to modify the sweetness level for your drink. On a small side note, sometimes the drink making process gets messy, and the contents can spill on the side. The employees do wipe it, but the drinks still feel sticky sometimes.
Since it seems like the wave has died down a little bit, drinks usually take no longer than 6 minutes, although I'm pretty bad at estimating times.
I feel like over time, they will be a long visited spot in Greenhaven. I'm basing my stars on the quality of the drinks, rather than the...
Read moreI almost forgot about this T4 in Lake Crest Village. We walked over after having lunch at Dumpling Yo. It's a quiet and smaller location with 4 or 5 tables. We picked up Kumquat with basil seeds and were in and Growing up in Hong Kong, Kee Wah Bakery was a household name. I remember eating lots of their cakes and baked bread as a kid. Every time I'm in Los Angeles, I always try to pick up a few items before heading back to Sacramento.
I really enjoy their handmade cookies, black sesame eggrolls (wafer rolls), and mango short cake. The hard part is not buying too much!
The older ladies that work there are always friendly and chatty. Reminded me so much of Hong Kong!
Parking can be tricky and limted in this area. I usually stay at Hilton San Gabriel across the street and walk over. within 5-10 minutes.
The drink was okay, and I wanted to try something new. I didn't taste too much of the kumquat and more of the basil seeds. They serve egg puffs and a few snack items at this location.
Plenty of parking in front or...
Read moreThis place is super popular. But the boba is just not consistent for us. There is nothing worse than mushy boba. The tea in the classic milk tea is watered down imho. But at least they use real milk. The fried tofu here is good but super salty. They don't have glass containers or the heavy duty plastic cups like in the bay area or other larger cities, they still do the old school plastic heat seal punch a straw thru a thin film of plastic deal. With all that being said if you come here around 3pm there will be a long line because when school lets out a lot of the kids go here. If you live in the pocket this is the closest boba place. Unless you drive to Freeport. We just looked on line and found out how to cook our own boba since the vacuum sealed premade boba is easy to buy locally now. We plan to make our own boba totally from scratch one day so we can make organic Okinawa brown sugar boba which is amazing. Brown sugar, tapioca flour and water = the...
