I've been to 3 different Temple coffee locations over the last 10 years. Who doesn't love a local coffee roaster (that isn't a Starbucks) and cozy coffee shop vibe?? I ran out of coffee at home this morning, and I decided to try Temple again. I ordered a small iced coffee with cream and sugar. It came black, over ice and cost me $5.55. I was directed to the table behind me to put in my own cream and sugar. I can't express to you how much I dislike trying to use a flimsy stir-stick to dissolve raw sugar in my iced coffee. It literally never, ever dissolves. This is the last time I go to Temple. The coffee is bitter and overpriced, and the atmosphere is faux-try-hard-snooty. The coffee is displayed like a hipster hair salon product and they charge $25 for a pound of coffee. I don’t know how to explain it but this place is really just pretentious and overly serious. How is this place not using anything but raw sugar? I know they are not trying to be a Dutch Bros, but come on! It takes me about 5 minutes to make a vanilla simple syrup at home, and I can buy better tasting coffee just about anywhere. It's not too terribly hard to make a good cup of coffee with quality ingredients. Somehow this place just continues to miss the mark...
Read moreI really liked this place. I used to go to the other Temple location off of Fair Oaks but it's super crowded. This one gets crowded too, but the layout of the long table and window seating allows for people to still get spaces to work, while the other location's smaller table layout, makes finding spaces to work more difficult. Customer service was great. The baristas were really nice and helpful in helping me choose my drink. I got the matcha sweetened which was ok, not as creamy and sweet as I'd like, but my friend got their seasonal apple cider chai latte and it was delicious. I'd definitely recommend this place, it has a great coffee place vibe. The guests I met were nice, I saw a good mix of students, young and old professionals, I got of a work vibe than a come let's socialize and or date vibe, however I also went around 6-close at 8pm so that may be it. The one downside is the close at 8pm, I would have wished they closed just a little later, like 9 or 10 like the other location, however it is still enough time for the 9-5 crew to get...
Read moreI really like this coffee shop, the design is lovely, the baristas are friendly and talented, and the coffee and pastries are delicious. The one con is that it’s SO LOUD most of the time, and often the loudest and most obnoxious people don’t even order. I’m not against people talking in coffee shops, in fact one of the things I like about working or reading in a coffee shop is having some background noise. But people are just rude here. It feels like it would be a pleasant place to spend an hour or two to relax but nearly every time it ends up being the opposite. While I don’t think it’s fair to baristas to expect them to police people hanging out at their shop, Temple doesn’t appear to have any kind of policy about expecting people to order, and loud, obnoxious people just get tolerated no matter how much it’s obviously bothering actual patrons. If you’re reading this, don’t be a jerk! The world doesn’t revolve around you. And for the love, order a drink if you’re going to hang out at a place...
