Not too busy at lunch, waiting time was less than 10 min. I was 3rd in line when I drove up, and within 2 min a waitress walked up to take my order. She was polite and cheerful. And my order was ready the moment it was my turn at the driveip window. So I give 5 stars on the service.
I ordered a carne asada taco, nachos super without sour cream, and a large horchata. Unfortunately they were out of horchata, so I can't comment on that, except to say she was very apologetic about it, and I find so few Mexican restaurants that serve it, so Im going back if only to try it.
The taco was good. There wasn't as much meat on it as I've seen at other places, and the carne was a little dry, but the flavor was great. At only $2.05 I'd say it's a good deal.
The nachos were loaded with plenty of meat, cheese, lettuce, beans, and jalapeños to make them a full meal by themselves for most people, all for just $6.49. The nachos were starting to get soggy when I ate my meal about 15 minutes after driving away; that's not their fault, and it was still warm in the styrofoam container and aluminum foil.
Every time I drive past Mechy's after work, they are busy, so they obviously have a lot of local support. I'm definitely going back. The food was fast, service was great, wait was short, and the prices were very reasonable. Not bad at all for a local corner drive-up Mexican restaurant.
Edit: I returned 2 weeks later to try the Horchata, and they were again out of it, this time at dinner. I'll try once more...
Read moreSo to begin with for those who haven't been here before. You order at the counter. Then you can sit and wait for your food to be brought to your seat that you choose. My wife and I went for the first time to try things out. I got the shredded beef burrito. Which was smaller than expected. Just meat and tortilla. They don't cook peppers or onions along with it. So it's pretty bland. I got the platter with the rice and beans. Everything was cold because I waited for my wife's order to be remade. So after 45 minutes waiting for our food. She ordered shredded beef enchiladas with rice and beans. But when it arrived the enchiladas had no meat. So to be polite I waited. Which was another 25 minutes. With my food just sitting on the table. My wife's meal was fine but she had said the enchiladas lacked flavor. But on the bright side of things. The salsa is absolutely kick butt! I was impressed! Being a cook myself I may be a little particular. But as for all of the salsas I have tried in the general area, mechys is the best. And the last thing is that the place is affordable. So it's not the best food or the largest portions. But about half the price of a nicer place. So it depends on your budget that day I...
Read moreThe two stars are on the review because their service was very unprofessional, rude and got treated like we were the ones who ruined their day. The "waitress" came out to my car to take our order because we were third in a line of five cars... when we ordered an enchilada plate she never asked what kind of enchiladas we wanted, kept saying "is that it, is that it" after each of us ordered instead of "can I get you anything else" and there were 4 of us in the vehicle. When we get to the window we wanted to verify what kind of enchiladas they were going to gives us and the girl at the window says, "we just put cheese enchiladas on the order, why did you want something different?"... of course we wanted beef enchiladas so I let her know and under her breath she said, "that's why you need to say what kind when you order, great!". When I asked what she said, she responded "I wasn't talking to you!"... other than the food being great, it wasn't a very good experience at all! If you're having a bad day try not to let customers see that you are and definitely don't treat them like they were the ones who ruined your day... it's not...
