My wife and I were in Saginaw and looked up places to eat. We wanted somewhere to sit and eat and didn't want fastfood. When we walked in the place gave a very dive bar feeling and thought this was probably going to be a one time visit, especially because we live 35 minutes away. We were told to sit where we wanted (there was one table that was full). I didn't have high hopes. MAN WAS I WRONG. First, the waitress was very nice and answered all of our questions. If you go there ask for Lindsay C. to wait on you. We ordered the fried mac and cheese for appetizer and when she brought it to the table it was a fried ball with bacon on top sitting in cheese sauce, not at all what we were expecting. She convinced us to try it. I am a finicky eater but I went for. . .we took the portion we couldn't eat home! For my entre I got the fried shrimp but asked what they batter it with first as I am sort of a seafood snob (especially when it comes to shrimp). All I have to say is get the fried shrimp. It is battered with a combination of flour and tempura and is some of the lightest batter I have ever had. It was not at all greasy. It could have used more seasoning but if you use sauce or have it tossed in some problem solved. I gave compliments to the chef and the waitress mentioned that the owner considers the restaurant a 5 star dive bar. I don't know how many stars they deserve but my wife and I would be willing to drive the 35 minutes again yo go back. Ask for Lindsay C and try the hot honey sauce. . .my wife took the rest...
Read moreI took my family out to Eagle's Point for dinner and to watch an NFL playoff game. Wait time on a Saturday evening was 35 minutes, which is normal for our area of town. We got seated in about 20 minutes and we observed that there were some empty tables not being seated at, because they were short staffed. Once we were seated, we noticed that the bench seats closest to the front windows were difficult to eat at, because the table could not be placed close enough. The two pub chairs on the other side were okay, so my wife and some moved there. The server showed up promptly and took our drink and appetizer order, and she let us know that the kitchen was running way behind, and asked us to be patient and expect a 30 minute wait. Nice of her to be honest and set our expectations, and we got beers, water and the appetizers quickly. We had the shrimp stuffed jalapenos and fried mushrooms, and both were served hot and well prepared. The jalapenos were huge, and quite tasty...The mushrooms came out with a nice, crunchy batter and were yummy as well. Main courses were philly cheese steaks and the G.O.A.T Macaroni and cheese with grilled shrimp and sliced jalapenos. Lots of hot cheese with plenty of shrimp and goat cheese crumbles on top. Plenty of flat screens for watching the game and we had a DJ fire up the tunes at about 8:30...Not too loud and decent...
Read moreThe last time we visited was over 5 years ago, when they first opened. I came back to discover that it is under new ownership now and the changes are quite gratifying. First off, they no longer allow indoor smoking. I don't mind smoke but I do understand how it can be unpleasant for some. It makes eating your food that more enjoyable. Second, the food! I had the Porker and the wife had the Haslet Ranch Burger. These burgers were amazing. The beef was cooked perfectly and the buns are fantastic. We couldn't help but look at the other dishes being served to other patrons and they looked just as good. The overhaul that was done to the menu is unbeatable. The portions are Texas-sized but very reasonably. I know where I'm going whenever I have a burger craving. Thirdly, the service. The food came out super fast, so if you need a quick bite, you won't be disappointed. Courtney did an awesome job. She was very attentive and affable. I couldn't help but feel the welcoming, neighborhood vibe of this place. The wait staff knew the costumers by name and it just gives this place it's charm. The pool tables are well maintained and they have live music on some days. I'm glad we came back. Awesome changes were made and can't wait to come back to try the Burger of the Month and the daily specials. Of course, happy hour is on par. Try it,...
