Nadine’s Cafe — Restaurant in Saint Augustine

Our server was nice, timid, shy, like a lost puppy. I believe it was her first day, possibly first job, and maybe even first time in a restaurant.

The menu is simple which is great because that means the cook will focus on the quality of the few options. Nope. I was part of a group of 4 people, only other patrons appeared to be family members of the owner. Our food was cold, bland, droplets of liquid coming from the ceiling.

I won’t dig into the server because I want to believe she is just ignorant to everything in the restaurant business. But we could overhear a lady in the back talking about how everyone knows her, and she’s basically famous. She would also correct our server multiple times, too bad she was clearly too busy being “famous” to come over and help her server or do anything really.

Came here for breakfast our first day of vacation, all because of the high praise on reviews.

Unfortunately, we cannot vouch for a 5 star review. The caramel coffee was far too sweet, my fiancé couldn’t finish it (and he likes sweet coffees usually). I got a breakfast bowl. It was generic potatoes and eggs with a slice of cheese on top. I don’t think even salt nor pepper were used for seasoning. No salsa was served with it. So it just had zero flavor. My fiancé got the corned beef hash. He said it was “okay, not bad, but definitely not good.”

Seemed most other tables were having the same experience, as one table left half of their food behind when they left and the other table walked out after one bite of theirs.

Not sure what’s going on there at the moment. But I’d say this isn’t the time...

Food meh. Homefries were really well cooked but unseasoned. The grits were bad. Corned beef hash looked like it came out of a can (had that metallic taste). Biscuits and gravy were fine. Coffee was bad diner coffee.

Bathroom was dirty. The sink was dirty, the toilet was dirty, there was a clump of something on the floor behind the toilet that looked...ew. no paper towels to dry hands.

Service was meh. Had to get sugar off another table; wasn't offered a spoon to stir coffee with; asked for one and never got it. Asked for coffee refill with about a quarter cup left, was left with half a cup after refill.

Not a bad place, just meh. Wouldn't come back here unless it was the only...
