From the time we entered the inn we were treated like celebrities! Donna greeted us with a warm orientation and fresh baked cookies. We got to choose the table to eat breakfast at. We got spoiled with many complimentary amenities such as wine, sodas, and water. We stayed in the St. Augustine room. It was well appointed with a large 2 person jacuzzi, a huge bed, and a Victorian couch. We also had a private entrance from the wrap around porch. The wrap around porch has several rocking chairs, bistro tables, wicker furniture. The morning started out right with a gourmet 5 star breakfast of the Cedar House breakfast sandwiches and Berry puff pastries filled with mariscapone cream. Overall, the most incredible luxury experience I've had in my 30 years on this earth. UPDATE Donna is a ray of sunshine in human form BUT Parking here is a NIGHTMARE!!! Parking is extremely limited here. They say parking is included, but they only have 8 parking spots and 7 guest rooms and apparently the staff sometimes parks there too. There were 2 different occasions that we cannot get out of the parking lot because the employees were parked at the exit blocking it. There was one night we came back from dinner and we couldn't even get in because the manager, Jonathan had his red SUV blocking the entrance. I was going to go in to call the emergency line, when he informed me it was his red SUV that was blocking us. I think that's extremely inconsiderate, considering there were about four empty parking spots at the time. Then there was a third occasion in which apparently a guest had two vehicles that they brought with them. Given the parking situation, it may be a deal-breaker for me. I don't know if we'll be back. Lastly, they told me prior to booking that they would take 10% off of my reservation. I called them to confirm before booking. However, they did not honor this even though Jonathan is the one that told me over the phone when I asked him about it. When we got there, he told me something...
Read moreMy husband and I eloped in St Augustine October 15, 2012. We stayed at Cedar House Inn however we didn't have our wedding ceremony there. (Since it was just the two of us we opted for having a more simple, budget friendly ceremony a couple blocks away.) We enjoyed our stay at Cedar House. We stayed in the smallest room (The Grove) which was a little cramped for us but our budget was really tight so we made it work. If you can afford it go for a bigger room. Cyndi is the kind of person you feel like you've known your whole life. She made us feel so welcome and she is so easy to talk to. On our wedding day I mentioned maybe getting my hair done and Cyndi stepped in and called a nearby beauty salon and had me an appointment that day in perfect time for our wedding ceremony. The Inn is so beautiful and charming and I have to say that the gourmet breakfast Cyndi prepared each morning was the most incredible food I've ever eaten ! EVER !! I still dream of that food and we hope to go back in a couple years to celebrate our anniversary. It was so nice going to breakfast with great company and beautiful settings then go back to the room and WOW...everything was clean, restocked and bed made ! sooo nice. The breakfast was so good that we never needed to eat lunch anywhere. We were never hungry until dinner. The fresh baked cookies and port wine in the evening were so refreshing. Oh , and did I mention the bed is the most comfy bed we've ever slept in !!! St Augustine is full of some of the most incredible places we've ever eaten. We walked everywhere except to go over the bridge to the light house and Alligator park. ( Highly recommended) It only took 10 minutes to get in our car and drive over the bridge to our destination. The Alligator park was amazing and so much more than expected and we got to zip-line over the animal...
Read moreWarning: This review has nothing to do with actually staying at Cedar House Inn because we never made it there. We had to cancel our trip to Florida due to a family emergency as my mother-in-law was rushed to the hospital two days before the reservation. When that happened, I immediately emailed Cedar House asking them to either provide a refund (this was an off-peak midweek stay) or to please give us a credit so that we could come down in April during spring break, that being the next time my kid would be off from school. I did not receive a reply.
I called Cedar House today to see what they did about our cancellation since I never got an email or call. I could tell from the conversation I had with Cary that someone obviously slipped up and did not send the cancellation charge email at the time it was supposed to be sent. Cary sent it while we were on the phone and it arrived immediately. My spam folder was also checked and there was nothing from them. I was charged half the room rate for cancelling.
Since my email was never replied to, I asked again if we could get a credit and use it in April—I was denied. He put me on hold a few times so I knew he was asking but obviously someone with the power to provide what I wanted just kept saying no.
I feel that sometimes circumstances should be taken into account in these situations. A last minute emergency that had my husband trying to plan a trip to England to see his mom.....the fact that this was a midweek stay and the inn was not inundated with reservations....me not asking for a refund but merely a credit to be used on a date coming up soon....I think it's heartless and bad policy to not be a bit more lenient.
So for spring break when we rebook our trip to Florida, sorry to say we will not be staying at Cedar House. Cary, I...
