Casa Mia Mexican Kitchen New Town — Restaurant in Saint Charles

We have a mixed review of our experience. We were seated right away, which was nice. Our server took at least 5 minutes to finally get our drink order. Someone else delivered the drinks, though. She finally came back to take our food order. We ordered an appetizer and went ahead and put in our food order too. We didn't see her again for another 10 min when she happened to stop by the table next to us and asked us if we wanted more chips & salsa, but completely ignored my empty glass. We didn't see her again until we were halfway through our meal -- which took 20-30 min... the appetizer did not come out until our fajitas were delivered (mind you it was ceviche, so it could have come our very quickly). I had to ask the hostess to get me more water and am extra plate for the fajitas since our server was nowhere to be found. I know there seemed to only be 2 servers and the bartender working, but it was completely manageable since a lot of the tables there were relaxing with beers and margaritas. I've been a server at much busier places and there was no excuse for the lack of attention we got. At one point while we sat waiting for food to arrive with no appetizer in sight a man stopped at the table that we didn't know to ask us if we hibernated for the winter because he hadn't seen us in awhile-- this was our first time in this restaurant. He was in gym shorts and a t-shirt, so we were quite confused who he was, who he thought we were, and what was going on. We soon realized he was a manager or owner. He didn't check on us in a way that indicated he'd noticed we'd been ignored for a long time or that we'd been sitting with nothing from our order delivered for far too long. He moved along and started chatting with the "regulars". Unfortunately, the service here was pretty terrible unless you were a regular or drinking something more than water. The table next to us had a mom and 2 kids and they had the same server. The mom had to ask her the meal was for one of her kids because it was never delivered... they say down and ordered after us and had food on there table for twice as long as we did. The food ordered was a burger and fries and she tried to claim it took longer to make than the rest of the food so that's why it wasn't there. The problem there was that she hadn't come by to check on them either. She walked by our table several times without glancing at us even once. Once we finally got our check, she didn't bother to ask how everything was or if we wanted to take our leftovers with us. She just grabbed our card, walked away, delivered the receipt and a pen and left again. We had to call out for her to come back. I'm far...

This was quite simply the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. To start off we had to wait an hour and a half for our food. At first we didn't mind the wait since we just got done playing volleyball and had to kill some time. Around an hour and 15 minutes I asked our server how much longer the food will be, which he brushed me off and said shortly. I then saw a gentleman, later discovered to be the owner, come out and apologize to the table next to us. The owner then came and apologized to us and I asked him to please check how much longer our food will be due to us now having to leave in 15 minutes. Well, he never came back. Instead we watched him sit around inside and drink beers with his friends. At this point, I confronted the owner and told him it was simply the worst experience i've ever had. All he could respond with is that he gave me half off my bill and would've paid for my drinks but we weren't drinking. How an owner can sit around and watch their customers, this was MULTIPLE tables, be pissed off and not do anything to help it is insane to me. Not to mention during all of this my friend, who came after we ordered our food and drinks, was sitting around for over an hour and our waitress failed to even ask if she wanted food, drinks or even acknowledge she was there. We finally got our food and I will admit the food was decent but maybe like 20 minute wait good. After we got our bill, which was $21 after the 50% off, I gave our server $40 in cash and requested change back. I sat around for 15 minutes while I watched the server stand around at the back of the restaurant. My girlfriend then goes in and finally gets our change to which she comes back out with $9. $10 SHORT. I then have to go back in and confront the server to which he just gave me my $40 back in total. The lack of professionalism, respect, and overall knowledge of how to run a restaurant at this store is terrible. I do not recommend this restaurant at all!!!

The food is phenomenal, the location is fun. Service was something else entirely. I've been here twice now and had nearly identical experiences both times. My family waited to sit for about 20 minutes, waited at our seats before a server approached for about 10 minutes, waited almost 40 minutes to get our drinks after that. While waiting another 45 minutes for our food to arrive a staff member who was not our server spilled a drink for another table on a member of our party. The drink went down his back, onto his seat, and on his lap. She saw it happen, made uncomfortable eye contact, and said a quick sorry and kept on walking by. She didn't return to help clean it or hand him napkins. We mentioned this to our server because we needed to ask for napkins for him to dry off, she didn't seem concerned and didn't go out of her way to remedy the situation. The guy was eventually offered a free drink for the inconvenience by yet another staff member, which he accepted, only to be charged for that "free" drink. I've been told multiple times that Myra is the best server, and after our first poor experience we returned hoping to get her. We had the same poor service that we did the first time from inattentive servers and lack of care. When I flipped my receipt over I was stunned to find that THIS server was Myra. Maybe you have to be her regulars to be deserving of good service, who knows? If this is as good as the service gets, go elsewhere if you want to be treated well at all times, every time. The Casa Mia on Jungermann perhaps. This place could be so great, but they bit off more than they can chew and are trying to take on more tables than they can...
