Celebrated a birthday of a relative here October 26, 2024. Reservations were for 7p for a party of 14. We were seated at 7:20p. Upon entering the restaurant I noticed how intimate and small it is. Seating is limited if you are waiting. At 7:20p we walked to the back to our seats. We were seated at the back two tables. It is a bit tight in there, meaning it’s small. We received a small serving of soup with one slice of mushroom and a ginger salad. It was very delicious. I chose the filet and shrimp and it was amazing! The service and the presentation from the chef was on point Overall, the food was terrific and flavorful. The place is intimate and you will feel the flame the chef uses during his presentation. I would go back because the prices are cheaper than Kobe’s.

Of the Japanese teppanyaki restaurants around, this one has the best food and best value. Most other places have eliminated what was the standard shrimp appetizer; Shogun still has this. Most teppanyakis have given in to St Louis' bad taste and serve "yumyum" sauce instead of a good spicy mustard/wasabi sauce;not Shogun. They've got great food, decent prices and fun chefs. How've, the place is small, not a lot of space between diners, and really needs a good cleaning (See the ceiling and vents). Overall, 4 stars.

Good is great and everything is back to normal glad to see they didn’t change anything on the menu all Tastes the same as before Covid thank god. They also do a great job to be gluten friendly if you bring your own gluten free soy sauce which for the wife she has an allergy this is great.

Exactly one year ago today I visited the Shogun restaurant in Alton Illinois and had a wonderful experience. It was my first visit there but I did not want it to be my last. I liked the ambience of the restaurant, and the staff was wonderful. The Hibachi chef was very entertaining and interactive with all of the customers. The food was great and it was just an enjoyable evening. Unfortunately unlike my Alton experience I was very disappointed with my experience at the St Charles restaurant. The food was good but would have been better if the timing of how it was cooked was better. By the time my steak was done my rice was cold, and by the time my chicken was done everything else was cold. In addition to, other than him squeezing the ketchup bottle with a string in it at my sister as he was leaving, there was absolutely no entertainment whatsoever! He asked us how we wanted our steak cooked, and he cooked the food in front of us and that was the extent of it. No onion fire volcano, no flipping of the spatulas or throwing shrimp at us, or telling jokes that are so corny that they're funny... It was not at all what we enjoyed at the Alton location. In addition to the fact that we were expecting the yummy dessert that we had last year and they did not sell ANY type of dessert. This was our first and last visit to...

I walk in to have a nice dinner with my boyfriend and our friends. We've been here before and it was generally inexpensive. Boyfriend and I order teriyaki chicken with rice to share between the both of us, mentioning multiple times that we wanted to share it. We eat, the chef does his tricks and the drink girls were on their a game. We get the check and it is $40. How does sharing a $14 meal turn into $40?

We go to speak to the manager and he is incredibly rude and refuses to give us any money off. The fight continues and we only get $5 off the meal. He also asked if we told the chef or the wait staff about us sharing the meal, in any other restaurant the waiter would relay to the chef about this but apparently not here, the waiter was also in too much of a rush to even listen to anyone anyways. People at the grill around us also told the manager that we said "SHARE" in our order but the manager couldn't give a damn less about his customers.

If I could give zero stars I would, I have to pay because the of the waiters...

So Tonight I went there with my family and brother. The walls were greasey, the floor had food on it still, there was only one chef, the furniture and windows in the lobby are dirty and falling apart. The over head vent/fan has grease on it. The grease dripped into our rice. It's just unsanitary and some of the food is cooked incorrectly. My brother ordered a filet mignon and got chunks of steak instead. A filet mignon is a small portion a t bone steak wrapped in bacon. Not small chunks of meat. They need to be sanitary, organized, proportion servings need to be better and the chef needs to work on the tricks because he messed up alot. And the sauces are over powering. And they don't have any other sauces like A1 for steak. They was only one waiter staffing the bar and the grills. And one chef for all 6 tables that night. And we waited for a hour and a half just to get a table. It took the chef 30+ minutes to get to out table due to poor staffing. Never coming back to this place. Would not...
