Talayna's Wagon Wheel Pizza — Restaurant in Saint Charles

This is the 3rd strike for me and will no longer patronize the St. Charles Talayna's on Main Street. The pizza and salads are fantastic, but the service is atrocious and I'm done. This is the 2nd time I've placed an order that was supposed to be ready in 25-30 minutes for carry out and instead it ended up taking over an hour and a half. I had a similar bad experience previously with delivery taking over 2 hours when i was told one hour, so I stopped using their delivery service for that reason. I was willing to look past those negative experiences due to the great food, but no more.

I had my final disastrous experience tonight. I understand that there's a Halloween festival going on and they're short-staffed, but just be truthful about how long it's going to take when I place the order. If they can't accommodate my order at that time, just tell me. A simple courtesy phone call to let me know that they were running behind could've been placed and I would've showed up later. Instead I walked in, expecting my order to be ready, and waited another 30-40 minutes. I asked several servers about the status of my order and only one followed up with me and the estimated remaining time was still wrong. It would be one thing if this was an isolated incident, but it's a pattern now and that's inexcusable.

If Talayna's wants to maintain their reputation, either revamp the management and staffing of the St. Charles location or close it altogether. The interior is dingy and makes it unappealing to dine in, so that's another reason I carry out. The great food no longer outweighs the frustration with the terrible service for me. I wasn't the only customer there frustrated with the service tonight. Even though they provided a generous discount tonight for the inconvenience, my time is worth more than saving a few bucks. It's a shame, but I'll just have to find another place that makes great NY style pizza and appreciates...

Great Pizza. Fantastic (and filling) salads and pasta. If you want a good Chicago style pizza, this is the place to go. IT IS AMAZINGLY GOOD FOOD.

HOWEVER.....the service is very poor, and has been for as many years as I have gone there. I've been eating pizza from Talayna's on Main Street since 2002 (if I recall correctly), and never have I gotten good service. The waitresses (new ones almost every time I go) are sloppy, forgetful, slow, and they have no organization of tables or sense of purpose. It seems that management is either clueless how to change this or just doesn't care. A little structure and training might go a long way here.

The restaurant itself could use some decor improvement, as it always seems drab and dirty.

Okay, now that I've covered the negatives...lets focus on the positive: It may take an eternity to get your order in, flag down the waitress, etc... and the food is never out quick. BUT when your pizza finally arrives, its pretty much worth it. Mouth watering topping, rich melty cheese, great crust, and an amazing sauce keep me coming back time and again. It is a testament to how delicious their pizza really is that I continue to eat at Talayna's. Don't expect good service or a fast turnaround, have plenty of time, and you'll get a...

I ordered a Large NY pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, and jalapeños with two slices only having pepperoni. I ordered at 5:57 and was told 25-30 min. I arrived on time went in nobody came to see if anyone else came in, I waited over 8 minutes before anybody came from back area. Did not acknowledge me they went straight to customers there not once but twice and I finally got acknowledged. I said I placed a to go order waitress said just a minute. In the mean time other customers came in and she walked right passed me again not telling me anything. After 10 minutes another waitress came out with a order for somebody else on a pick up. I asked the 1st waitress again about my order I told her I called it in at 557, I did not get my pizza until 651. I get home pizza is soggy and warm. For $35. the pizza was not worth it. I will not return period. Poor customer service + wait time + quality of food = bad review. They were not that busy to where I could have received better service and quality of food....
