Gilbert's Lodge — Restaurant in Saint Clair Shores

Was very disappointed as I have been referred here by several people. We ordered the pretzels and a mac and cheese as an appetizer. The pretzels and cheese were good, but the mac and cheese really didn't have any flavor, I took 2 bites and packed it to go and took it home and added spices, cheese, and cream and then it was good. My boyfriend ordered a lemon drop as a shot, he received it and it was pre mixed or just improperly made and gross, which as a bartender i told him he should ask if theirs is pre mix. The waiter then took our food order. My daughter ordered a house salad and I added cheese and bacon, I then ordered a sandwich, after my boyfriend ordered fajita. He asked him if he wanted soup or salad and he ordered soup he then said to me, "oh yeah did you want fries ( to which the way he said it inferred that it came with) he didn't ask me if I wanted to add that or tell me that there would be an additional charge. So I asked if I could do sweet potato fries instead and he said yes. When my food came out my fries were super burnt. I waited about 15 min till he came back and pointed it out to him. He went to get a plate and came back had me put them on the plate and said he would get me more. My boyfriends fajita was supposed to be chicken steak and shrimp. He said while having good flavor, the steak was very rough and fatty. He only got 1 small piece of chicken on his plate which was kind of weird. 20 min went by with no fries, I flagged down the waiter and asked, he said oh yeah ill go check. I got the turkey sanwich with artichokes, it was okay but honestly very bland which is wild because it had carmelized onions, artichokes, turkey, pickles, and cole slaw. The cole slaw was quite flavorless which was maybe the problem. I just had high hopes for the sandwich and felt disappointed at how it taste. Didn't come for for another 20 min till he dropped off the bill. When I got the bill I was charged for deluxe on my meal which he never asked me if I wanted to add on. Mind you for fries I still at this point had not received. My daughters salad which said 6.50 on the menú was on my bill as 9.50 when I asked him he said it was because of the cheese and bacon i added. Which I showed him I there will still .75 charges below for cheese and bacon that was added on top of the 9.50 I was already charged. I then mentioned how I also did not get the fries, which I had to wait for after and they were soggy but yet I was forced to pay for them when I was never even asked in the first place if I wanted to pay extra for them. Also that super gross lemon drop shot was $7.50 which is very high for a pre mix shot. He said he went and spoke with the manager and they took 2 dollars off my bill because the price on the menú was wrong. Our bill was over 100 and I still tipped 15% even though my service was not very good, and i left hungry. I feel like he didn't try to take care of our needs at all. As a bartender myself I tried to be patient and understanding but this was not a good experience, I was suprised at how low the food quality was, we left feeling like we threw $120 out the window and it's really a shame because we were there celebrating my daughter winning a beauty pageant. Ordered a barbecue chicken pizza that did not have enough chicken on it plain and simple, little tiny pieces of what was there and one slice had none at all. The one thing that saved it was the Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce that was on point. We ordered three beers a Bell's Two Hearted a Bud Light and a Miller Lite that were all warm, upon saying something we were told it was because they didn't have enough tall glasses and the glasses are warm coming out of the washer. The server said she would say something to the manager but didn't hear anything back from the manager and didn't receive any compensation and when we ordered a second round of drinks saying we wanted cold beers in a cold glass they were still warm.. Our friend that was with us ordered the mac and cheese which was on point, definitely a great mac and cheese and worth getting. The service was good but like what happens sometimes, if you take longer than 5 minutes to order your main course you don't see your server again for like 15 or 20 minutes when you only needed like a few more minutes. This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a very long time. This was my second time going to Gilbert’s. I had a great experience the first time. But last night was ridiculous. Got there just before 10. They close at 11. Sat by the door for 10 minutes before a busser came to seat us while juggling 10 empty beer bottles. Fine. At least we’re seated. Server comes over. We order beers and an app at the same time. I fill out a keno slip and their machine is down and he tells me I have to go to the bar. Again, fine. I buy my ticket and sit down. We order our food. It’s probably 10:15 at this point and there are only a few people there. 3 draws in, the bartender turns off all of the keno screens after literally selling me a ticket. I ask to have them turned back on and I can hear the attitude. We then waited about 20 minutes for 2 burgers. Our server only cared about his side work. So my burger had been microwaved and was boiling when I got it. He looked right past my empty beer on the end of the table and rushed away. I then had to go to the bar and order 2 more beers because he didn’t return until another 15 minutes later. Just don’t waste your time if you show up anywhere near close. They do not care about...
