Murphy Inn — Restaurant in Saint Clair

This was the second time I've stayed here, and even though it's only a half-hour from home, it feels like being on vacation. (My husband & I often come for dinner.) The building is historic and the decor of the rooms reflects that. Staying here feels cozy and laid-back. ||||Be advised that all the rooms are on the second floor, up several stairs. Also, If you would rather sleep than take part in the festivities in the bar, I recommend you request a room in the back, and bring earplugs. Check-in is at the hostess station between the dining room and pub, so female solo travelers might feel a bit self-conscious if they're checking in when the joint is jumping. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, though.||||The continental breakfast of coffee, tea, juice, bagels, muffins, fresh fruit, and cerals is more than ample to send you on your way. Enjoy it on the Inn's beautiful front porch and watch the town come to life. ||||The only advantage of staying at the St. Clair Inn vs the Murphy Inn is that the St. Clair Inn is right on the river, and if your room is on the river side, the freighters go right past your window. I wanna give a Huge 5 Star ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ to Murphy Inn downtown Saint Clair Michigan. First restaurant I have ever been able to get Gluten Free Fish & Chips! I asked and the Chef / Owner / Manager Mitch was so excited to Try for the First Time. We were both so excited about making this dish happen. It was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!!! Mitch you are so Awesome, never second guessed he personally brought out my dish, took time to have a conversation with us. I explained I haven’t had fish & chips in over 12 years because I’m Gluten Free not by Choice.

Mitch even Honored the “ All You Can Eat” with my Gluten Free option. Mitch is a True Talented Chef. They have so many Gluten Free options- bread, buns, wraps, and Now 1st Time Ever - GLUTEN FREE FISH & CHIPS. As a karaoke and trivia host of 8 years, I have worked as an entertainment partner with several different venues. However, Murphy Inn has quickly become one of those one-in-a-million venues that I genuinely look forward to working with as an entertainer. The staff and the management are some of the most kind and easygoing folks to work with and they truly make my role of providing entertainment services to their venue a very enjoyable time for me every week I host trivia or karaoke here. The food is also absolutely delicious. Above all, Murphy Inn's staff gives myself and my fellow hosts the VIP treatment, and it is very much recognized and genuinely appreciated by all of us. The drinks are never on the skimpy side and are always hand poured with love by the AWESOME bartenders who are super friendly. And the best part is that there is no riff raff in here, making for a very positive, chill and casual atmosphere with lots of historic charm to it.
