The service was wonderful! We had two different servers who were very patient with us (dining with a toddler), as well as accommodating (again, toddler). We asked for an additional bowl to share with our child, and they brought it out, as well as a serving spoon. They also brought out a small spoon when they heard the child request one from us.
The atmosphere was great. Calm, peaceful, and inviting. The tables were clean and comfortable.
The boba tea was tasty with tons of tapioca balls in it (they're basically the only reason to get boba tea anyway). The tapioca balls were a little warm still, with the tea and ice. Everything was then sealed with a plastic peel-off lid and a sharp straw to protect from spilling. While I got milk tea (it's not my favorite, but, for me, it is almost always the safest best when trying a new place), it was one of the better boba teas I've had.
The only downfall was the pho itself. While it was acceptable, that was about it. The broth tasted like beef bouillon and water. It did not taste like any spices were used for flavoring. The noodles were stuck to the bottom of the bowl and required some effort to detach them, even in the broth. A meager serving of meat was given, at about half of what I have had anywhere else. The serving size itself was good, with a very large bowl, but I did not leave satisfied as I usually do.
I would probably return to try some of the other foods, but I would never buy the pho...
Read moreI went to Ah'sya for lunch today, my first time in their new location. The interior looks very nice. The food came quickly and was very delicious. I usually have the #1 special, which has all the different cuts of beef. I would suggest to anyone who is new to this type of food to do the same if you feel a bit adventurous and open minded because the tripe is very good. The broth is absolutely amazing! They bring out a huge bowl of soup (that I have never successfully finished) that is piping hot with tender pieces of beef (or whatever you order.) There is also a side of fresh lime wedge, jalapenos, sprouts, "thai basil" and cilantro which you can use to dress up your soup however you like. Although it seemed foreign to me the first time I tried it, this soup has become one of my favorite comfort food and always hits the spot!
(I read a reviewer complaining about the chopsticks, which is surprising because the chopsticks they give you are actually nice instead of the usual cheap splinter sticks you generally get with Chinese takeout. They also provide a fork if you are not able to eat the noodles so... my 2 cents on that. )
Overall, love it here, you can't expect to get 5 star restaurant service at any well priced asian restaurant but I find the staff to totally friendly, the service is quick, and the food is ALWAYS good isn't that what it's about? I have...
Read moreNeeded a place for a late lunch so we stopped in. The place is bigger inside than it looks outside. There were only two other parties dining. The waiter (probably the owner) was very friendly with some regulars, discussing the broth for his pho and how he had worked to perfect the flavor. Apparently that pho is the stuff to go for.
We started with shrimp fresh rolls. They were fresh and delicious with three large shrimp in each roll. The accompaning peanut sauce was OK but I am a peanut sauce snob because my home-made coconut peanut sauce is the bee knees.
I orded the grilled pork and egg rolls rice vermicelli noodle dish. I expected an egg roll on the side but, pleasantly, a small and tasty egg roll was served sliced and mixed in with the rest and very very good. The grilled pork was moist and tender with a wonderful marinade/sauce. Maybe it was beef but it was so good that we did not care what it was.
My wife ordered the Crispy Fish. The waiter said it would take 30 to 40 minutes but we were in no hurry. It was served in 20 minutes. It was a panko-coated white fish delight with a home-made tartar sauce. Not sure what kind of fish it was but my guess is cod, which we love. It was huge and...
