When we arrived Saturday evening we went up the large staircase and the balcony was barricaded by chairs. There was a sign telling us to go through the doors to the left. But, those doors were locked. We then went down the stairs and all the way around the building, up a large ramp and then were able to enter through a side door, that apparently is what is used as the main entrance.
When I walked in, I asked to use the bathroom, and was stopped. I had to get a key to use a restroom to wash my hands. Apparently it is a shared restroom with an office complex that locks the doors. It is very unfortunate that every customer who wants to wash their hands has to find an employee to get a key to do so.
The hostess eventually seated us, but she seated us at dirty tables. Also, the tables were very wobbly and clearly are not being maintained. After 10 minutes I went and retrieved menus from the podium as we were we're just ignored, even though the only other two groups in the restaurant had already been served and there was nothing for her to be doing at the time. She just disappeared into the back. It appeared there were only two employees attempting to run the entire operation.
Once we had been there for about 15 minutes, she returned to take drink orders. We then asked her to wipe down the table. She apologized and returned with a rag. As she wiped down the table, dirty water was coming out of the rag. Someone in our group ordered orange juice and we were informed that they were out of orange juice. Lemonade was ordered, but we were informed that they were out of lemonade. The server said that they had been hounding the manager for weeks to order orange juice but it had not been received. We also placed our food order at that time, because we didn't know how long it was going to take if we didn't do so at that time.
The food arrived approximately 55 minutes after our arrival. Even though the restaurant was not busy at all. During that time we witnessed a couple in their baby come in, wait to be seated for more than 5 minutes, and after being completely ignored, they turned around and left the establishment. Someone in our group also wanted to order one of the breakfast crepes, and they were informed that they were out of eggs and asked if that was okay. The server said that they usually have a bunch of "cooked eggs things" sitting in back, but there weren't any there now. So, apparently, they don't even cook fresh eggs?
The servings were small. We also ordered a few Italian sodas. The small glasses were more than half full of crushed ice, so for $4.25 we received about eight fluid ounces of beverage.
This restaurant seems to be on its way out of business as it is apparently extremely mismanaged. The server, although nice, didn't seem to have any training or direction on what she was doing. They seem to be understaffed and extremely apathetic. I am not a picky customer, but I've never had a restaurant experience quite this bad. I will not...
Read moreTerrible first experience! We were down here for a tournament and have heard great things about this place, so after a game we decided to check it out. We got there 25 mins before closing and were treated like an inconvenience and were encouraged to go somewhere else (and were told multiple times, with eye rolls, that they were closing soon). The place was empty and we were (along with 2 other families from our team) the only ones there.
With 25 mins before closing, they reluctantly took our orders and they were haphazardly made. Half of our family’s orders were thrown on a plate — literally, with the ingredients not even inside the crepe itself. Plates were slammed down by us and angrily picked up when we were done. Andrew was on register (was decent, but clearly annoyed that he even had to take our orders) and Ella (if that was her real name) was the cook and the rudest of them all. She stood at the counter, glaring at us, while taping her phone to remind us of the time. She even told us they were closing soon and turned the lights off while we were all eating to tell us to get out (all before they even officially closed — according to the time on the door). We asked for the lights to please be turned back on so we could see our food in order to finish quickly and get out.
Ella stood at the counter and continued to glare at us. It was the most uncomfortable, unwelcoming experience we have EVER experienced. Totally unprofessional and immature!!! We all tipped over 25% also — to tell them thank you for letting us actually order. And we all would have taken it back if we knew that this was going to be our experience. Truthfully — we all would have preferred to just get a refund, leave the food there, and get the crap out of there. We asked for the managers card at the end and were told by Ella he doesn’t have one. So we asked for a name — and were finally told “Casey.” Not sure if that’s correct or not — but clearly some training needs to take place. I hope he is aware of the attitudes his employees have, how they treat the people that come in to his establishment, and how they really don’t want to sell anything. Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! Take your business elsewhere — I guarantee you will be treated better, literally...
Read moreI really wish I could give this place five stars, the flavors really are amazing. I also can’t drop it down to one star because of a single experience. I’ve been to this restaurant at least a dozen times before, and only this last time was a disappointment.
I had ordered one of their savory crepes and had gotten just about halfway through it when I got a solid surprise. I had cut a section off for my next bite and was pulling it apart when a moth fell out of the wrapped part of the crepe.
At that point both myself and my fiancé lost our appetites so we called the waiter over to ask for the check. We didn’t create a scene, we politely pointed out the moth and suggested they take closer looks when building the dishes to prevent it from happening again.
We didn’t ask for a refund because we could tell that the poor waiter was stressed out of his mind. He had previously told us that the store was seriously understaffed. They only had two people working that day, so it’s not exactly surprising that something like this happened. They were barely keeping up with orders as it was, so quality assurance took a dip.
Still, you would think that a discount or partial refund would have been volunteered, but nothing of the sort was offered. That seems to be another solid lapse in training from management to employees here. It’s hard to blame a kid for problems like this, hopefully some management staff sees this review and recognizes the opportunities for improvement.
It will probably be a while before we consider coming back, honestly. There are two other fantastic crepe places in town and we’ll just stick with them from now on. That said, my experience was a one-time thing (hopefully), and shouldn’t deter new visitors considering this place as an...
