It’s always nice having another local business pop up in town. Having been to Boule multiple times since opening, I have to say there are a few aspects that I really enjoy! One thing is that Boule is open on Sunday, which, all other local cafés in St. Johnsbury and neighboring towns worth going to, are not. Boule has secured some really wonderful Baristas, who have experience and a love for serving you quality drinks and of course, the service is wonderful, even personal. When they first opened, their espresso machine wasn’t in order, so I was excited to experience their espresso and espresso based drinks once it was. Today I had a double espresso, which was excellent! I’m a firm believer that your espresso needs to be of a high standard, for it’s the base of most specialty drinks in a café. Having tried the double cappuccino with whole milk, that was also very satisfying; and while I prefer my cappuccinos extra dry, I would also consider it to have been excellent! Pastries have been relatively enjoyable. Today I especially enjoyed the Pumpkin Tartlet! Visually, I was very drawn to the Chocolate Crinkle, however, I found it to be a bit dry, and for me, much to decadent for one sitting. I’m happy to take it home and work away at it; perhaps with another coffee. Overall, I think Boule is a must visit for both locals and visitors. It’s atmosphere is welcoming, it has both floor and bar seating that looks out on the town, and is a relaxing place to enjoy an espresso on a Sunday morning.

I recently visited Boule Bakery, which is known for its extensive use of sourdough in everything they offer. Overall, the experience was enjoyable, but I wouldn’t say it was the best I’ve had. The highlight of the visit was definitely the cardamom bun; it was exceptional and easily the standout item on the menu. However, the ordering process left something to be desired. It was a bit confusing, leading to unnecessary foot traffic at the register, which made navigating the space a little frustrating. While I appreciated the creativity with sourdough, the overall experience didn’t quite meet my expectations. I’d recommend trying the cardamom bun for sure, but the rest of the offerings didn’t wow me as much as I had hoped.

Veg panini was yummy, their sliced sandwich bread is excellent. The croissant was interesting, never had the texture or flavour before its not super buttery or crispy. It tastes good and has a nice chew i assume due to the sourdough. I don't like the strawverry cupcake as i feel the frosting is overwhipped and leaves a film in my mouth, the cake itself is very moist though. The vegan chocolate chip cookie is very good. English muffins have a mild flavour and soft interior texture, closer to like a milk bread than a crumby dry english muffin you might be used to. Very yummy

I love Boule! The people are great, the coffee and the food are great, and the ambiance is great. My one and only qualm is that the employees almost always start cleaning up before closing time which, as a person who comes to do work online, feels uncomfortable, as if we are being pushed out in a way. The staff seems to be frustrated when you order a drink any time past 4:30. Again, I love most everything about Boule but the cleaning up starting before closing makes me feel as if customers are not welcome until 5. I understand wanting to be done with the work day but if the goal is to be leaving at 5 I would recommend changing closing...
