The Buttery: Kitchen + Pantry is a charming and intimate café that offers a thoughtfully curated menu featuring fresh ingredients and bold flavors. The space itself is cozy and inviting, with a bright, modern aesthetic that blends rustic and contemporary elements. Given its small size, it fills up quickly, making it a great spot for a relaxed meal, if you plan ahead with a reservation.

For our meal, my wife ordered the Eggplant "Parm" sandwich, a delightful combination of panko-breaded eggplant, melted mozzarella, fresh basil, "vodka" sauce, and pesto aioli, all served on toasted focaccia. She enjoyed the crispiness of the eggplant, which paired well with the creamy cheese and flavorful sauces. The sandwich was well-balanced, both in texture and taste.

I opted for the Banh Mi sandwich and chose chicken as my protein. However, I was mistakenly given pork instead. The mix-up wasn’t immediately noticeable, and I only realized it when I saw "pork" marked on the receipt. Despite this, the sandwich itself was delicious, featuring house-pickled banh mi slaw, sliced cucumber, spicy mayo, and the protein on a perfectly toasted baguette. The flavors were vibrant, and the pickled vegetables added a refreshing crunch. While I enjoyed the meal, I would have preferred to receive my original order.

To drink, I had the Turmeric Tea Latte with oat milk, which was warm, earthy, and lightly spiced ... a comforting and smooth beverage. My wife had a classic cup of coffee, which she found to be rich and satisfying.

Our server, Joseph, was friendly and provided good service overall, though the order mix-up was an oversight. The staff seemed attentive despite the restaurant being quite busy.

Overall, The Buttery is a great spot for high-quality sandwiches, fresh ingredients, and a cozy dining experience. The food is well-crafted, and the ambiance makes it an enjoyable place to sit and enjoy a meal. However, due to its popularity and limited seating, reservations are recommended to avoid long wait times. I’d definitely return, but I’d double-check my order next time to...

I was treated to dinner at this restaurant while in town visiting friends. One of the first things I enjoyed was sampling some of the local kombucha sold at this cozy establishment. The kombucha was tasty, I had the ginger carrot, which come to find out that has considerably less sugar than most popular kombuchas on the market. My friends let my try the beet kombucha, which was also tasty and not so sweet.

I ordered the smoked trout salad sandwich, which was served on a homemade baguette. The fresh dill in the trout salad and the cucumber slices really rounded out the flavor of this delicious sandwich. Instead of fries or chips, I opted for the kale ceasar salad on the side. Yummy! The kale was shredded, and the salad had freshly grated cheese on top. Talk about tasty! I'm craving that salad right now, but they're closed today. I'm looking forward to at least one more meal there before I...

The Buttery is one of those rare places that surprises and delights every single time. No matter what’s on the menu, I’ve never left unimpressed. There’s something about their style of cuisine that I find myself craving constantly—it’s comforting, elevated, and consistently mind-blowing.

Every visit feels like a mini escape; the food and atmosphere make me forget I’m in Vermont and instead whisk me away to a charming European café. The vibes are warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully curated, and the service is always lovely.

Don’t leave without trying their pickled takeaway items—they’re just as special as the meals themselves and a great way to bring a bit of The Buttery home. I couldn’t recommend this spot more...

Cannot say enough nice things about this wonderful little gem that opened up in Saint Johnsbury. Great wine selection plus a full espresso bar amazing food + cute and focused menu. They’re doing it right and providing a cool space for people of all ages to want to hang out. As a 30 something year old, our age group is especially happy to have this spot open. The staff is always friendly. 10 out of 10 can vouch for the grits off the breakfast menu… Throw some bacon and a fried egg along with the sautéed kale. The perfect meal. Keep up the great work.

Loved it!!!! Highly recommended. We recently visited Vermont and while randomly searching for a nice place to eat.. we came across this place and wanted to try it for its beautiful ambiance. But the little did we know that food is beyond beautiful. We ordered Pistachio pesto pasta and kale salad. Both were just amazing. Loved it so much that we went back for breakfast the next morning and ordered the chili spicy crispy chicken burger (it was crispy yet melting in the mouth) and The works sandwich with everything in it. Had a wholesome food experience.

My fiance and I came here for dinner on a whim while on vacation. We were both pleasantly pleased at our experience here! The Buttery is a lovely and lively quaint little spot with vegetarian dishes and vegan options. The atmosphere was incredibly inviting, the service was superb, and the food was delightfully artesnal. Everything tasted wonderful, flavorful, and fresh. The coffee was also hands down the best in town, smooth and bold going down. We will be sure to come back around next time!
