Arriba! Taqueria — Restaurant in Saint Joseph Charter Township

I work nearby, and come here quite often - ordering the same thing each time.

I won't name what I ordered considering this issue I'm about to bring up just happened.. I still plan to shop here, so I don't want to risk making myself a target of bad food (not that I think someone would deliberately do that at your establishment, most of your staff are fantastic workers that I've seen)

As usual, I call in my order; the first item as it comes, the other with a couple ingredients taken off.. (both the same item, just slightly different because of some things I don't like that are in the original order with no edits)

When I came to pick up my order, I assumed all was well -

I get back to work, and noticed my special order was not labeled; causing me to have to dig further into the item to make sure I didn't get the ingredients I asked to be removed..THEN I realized the other item I ordered ALSO had those ingredients removed, when I only asked for one of the food items to be changed

.. the sauces I asked for were Half Full, unusual, but I let it slide..don't usually finish all of the sauce anyway.

Taking a bite, I then realized the meat included in this item was dry, and seemingly shredded (not whole pieces like 99% of the time) causing the meat to get stuck in my teeth much more than it usually does; bit of an annoyance, and kind of gross considering the meat seemed greasy, and old..apart from being in a different form.

Ever since I've ate, I've had a stomach ache, which I blame on the probable carelessness of the staff currently working (around 5:30PM, same date of this review) and not properly preparing the items I ordered like they usually come.

I will most likely be back, but not at the same time/day with the current staff. I will deliberately double check whos working from now on just to be sure I don't get a bad food item.

Please look into this, you have great food and I'd like to continue getting great food, not mediocre careless messes.

12/8/23 Update* This is my last review of Arriba! Taqueria, as I will not visit again. I get the rising cost of food, but please don't short change your customers. If you raise your prices, please keep your meals quality. I paid $12 for three cold lousy tacos and rice. The steak was dry and unflavorable. The tortillas were raw, with one tortilla per taco; usually, taco joints grill their tortillas and double wrap each taco. To top of my frustration, I asked for double rice instead of rice and beans. I received two baby portions of rice. This little poerion of food for $12 dollars! Sorry, but I'm disappointed in this meal.

Third time at Arriba! Taqueria was okay. Taco spot in Saint Jospeh, I stopped to eat dinner. I loved the homemade salsa! Steak tacos are very good, but barria tacos were decent. Its best to take out meals and enjoy them at home. Overall, it's a decent meal today!

This review might come as harsh as it sounds but as a Hispanic myself, I like to rate Mexican restaurants in an authentic point of view. We used DoorDash to put our order in. I ordered the "gorditas"; one of "chorizo" and the other one of steak. I will have to say that the meat did not taste fresh. The chorizo tasted like your typical taco meat that you would find in a Mexican fast food. Chorizo is supposed to taste authentic, this one had no chorizo taste and I was very disappointed. I was really hungry and ended up eating it cause I was hungry but not because I actually enjoyed it. According to my wife the steak tasted like "taco bell meat" she said she would have rated this a 1 but I thought it takes a 2 in my ratings. This is great food for those who are not looking for that authentic Mexican taste. The salsas were alright. I really hope this restaurant prospers and does some changes to its meat tasting since a lot of us who come for vacation look for a good Mexican place in the area and Arriba is one of the only Mexican restaurants...
