I had not eaten here in a couple years and wanted to treat a friend of mine to a meal at a local restaurant. Since she is moving out of state in a month, and D&G has always been an icon in St. Joseph, I wanted her to try it. I remember eating here frequently as a kid, and the food was outstanding. That was not the case tonight. We arrived a little after 7 o’clock, and overheard one of the employees in a conversation with someone who was using extremely foul language, definitely not a very welcoming situation when you first walk into a place of business. After a few minutes, we were seated only to be forgotten about. It was well over 40 minutes before we saw a waitress and could even place a drink order. We quickly placed our food order at the same time. It took another 35 to 40 minutes before our food arrived. I ordered the Simon and french fries. There was so much barbecue sauce on the sandwich that it ran off the bread, and was almost sickening to eat. The roast beef was stringy and tough and every time I took a bite half of it came off of the bread, and was nearly impossible to chew. in the past I have ordered that sandwich dozens of times and always considered it one of the absolute best sandwiches that you could find anywhere in Saint Joseph. Tonight it was barely fit to eat. I left a fourth of the sandwich and probably that many of the french fries on my plate. The french fries were overly greasy and tasted like old grease. After placing our food order, we never saw our waitress again, so there were no drink refills. We were not asked if we would like to have a dessert. Certainly not the experience I wanted my friend to have at a restaurant that I fondly remember being so good in the past. I will definitely be in no...

Love this local restaurant! The menu is clever. The food so delish (my absolute favorite chips and salsa.). The owners are wonderful people. Christina does it all. Bartend, waitress, co-owner. Personable and enthusiastic. You know she loves what she does.
There are variety of sitting atmospheres to choose from. Bar side has the traditional pub bar, and some high top tables. Dinning side has some table/booth combos, there is a party room that is pretty spacious and even some outdoor seating.
The place is music themed. Most of their foods are named after legendary musicians. On the walls you'll find signed memorabilia from many artists. It is fun to look around.
Attached is their music hall, Cafe Acoustic. This isn't the original location of Cafe Acoustic, but still the original owners. A bit narrow in space in some areas, but the best sound of any gig I have ever been to. I love going to live music here, because I know the system is quality and the Sound guy is skilled, it is going to be amazing music.
I am not a drinker, so I can't speak to the alcohol. I know they have craft beers on tap and I think some local brews.
They cook their food to order, it is custom and amazing. They are on Door Dash and Waitr food delivery apps. If you want local place that is comfortable and welcoming for dining, or friendly for bartop, with a side of attached music, this is your place!

Read moreSo excited to try this place based on reviews & personal pics! Left kinda ho hum 🤷♀️
Great menu! Fun & exciting. Pricing pretty standard..little high but this was a special meal out so okay ($30/ just 2 sandwiches & water) Seems peppy & a bit trendy w/ their famously named options & twisty ingreds (like peanut butter on my spicy jack cheese burger).
Building is a nondescript dark green warehouse, parking is more difficult since ON the busy street, staff welcoming with immediate seating even during happy hour (3 people in bar), very clean/neat & bar is nice inside! Patient w/ my 20 questions...I finally ordered & it arrived promptly.
Our food looked great & was temperate. Fries were a rather small pile (can you even see them behind my bun?!?) & burger was a none too big (think smallest cheap McDs burger sz) pre-frozen perfectly round type when it should have crispy edged crafty patties to fit their trendy menu. Buns were suuuper puffy brioche and nice. My bfs meal was really yummy looking, but eating it with the several inch long strings of BBQd meat atop a crispy tenderloin, proved to be a chore 🤣! Impossible to chew through the BBQ meat and the sandwich just slipped and pulled apart in clumps. But yummy 🤷♀️.
Overall okay. I'd def locate a new place to try for...
