Overcharged at $9 per taco for some reason. I'm not usually someone that complains about prices but I thought something was weird when I had to pay $40 for 3 tacos and a coke???

Street tacos are $4 ea. Fish and shrimp are an additional $2.50 ea per taco. In total I got 3 tacos, al pastor, shrimp and walleye so in theory and according to signage, my taco total would be $17. Adding a coke (2.99), total is $20.

Something is wrong with their system because somehow I was charged ~$35 with sales tax and a service charge that wasn't pointed out to me even after I tipped an additional $3 to their cash tip bucket.

Brought it to the cashier's attention but didn't really get it "resolved" until after she called someone so I could re-explain the situation again. PLEASE fix the system to reflect prices advertised to customers. I fear how many others may have been overcharged.

They gave me back $10 cash but didnt account for readjusted tax and service charge for my correct total.

The food is great here but each time I come, something is wrong and I don't think I'll be back again.

Edit after response from business: This post is to create awareness to ALWAYS check your receipts. Prices can be changed directly on Square POS. Transaction should have been cancelled and rung up again so I could have gotten correct change instead of giving me $10 and calling it a day. The response from the business is infuriating. The 3 times I was trying to explain I was charged $9 for each item, their reply each instance was "oh shrimp and walleye are $2.50 extra". Doesn't account for the extra $5 I was charged for the $4 al pastor street taco. Blaming the problem on technical issues and guilt tripping into hurting a small business doesn't really...

They charge a “service fee” on the self help kiosk for you to ring in your own order. The service fee is put in with the state tax so you cannot see why you’re paying an extra $8. Im guessing it’s to pay the employees, as there are signs everywhere indicating they are short staffed and don’t understand English. That being said, the service was not great either. I simply asked for a lid for my consume, and was met by an eye roll. When I said “thank you” the employee just turned around and walked away. They forgot the queso on my quesobirria tacos and the shells were so hard, I could barely bite them. I ended up just leaving because after being charged an extra $8 on top of my bill for just the food and no explanation as to why I was charged a service fee and then the rude eye roll, I was more than done. One positive was the birria beef tastes great and was tender. That being said, we won’t be back and I don’t get why all the hype was there.. much better and more authentic tacos all over the twin cities.

Edit: the owners response is pathetic. Do you not realize no one needs to pay a fee to have there food handed to them. I will have a “good day” because I’m not throwing money away visiting your restaurant. Did you not realize how rude your employee is🤮 don’t roll your eyes at e when I just paid you $10 to make my food on top of the $40 fee to get tacos. You’re not that special. Your restaurant sucks. Try...

Not worth the Hype, overpriced, dry old food. Could have been better.

I wanted to take my lady out, we seen this place on instagram. I was excited to try this place out. Im not trying to be a hater, but honest. I spent about $50 here because I was excited and wanted to try everything. I've been a cook for a while, Mexican food is my favorite food 👑 followed by Italian. However the food here @labodegatacobar was underwhelming, the chicken had a strange overpowering greasy Italian sausage flavor to it 🤮 that threw everything off, immediately felt uneasy and gross, the chicken quesadilla, the tacos, the crazy fries everything was just nasty, the crazy fries were horribly dry and greasy old like they had been sitting out or over cooked.

The Esquites probably were the best thing we had and the overpriced $3 churro.

Maybe it was the day we whent, maybe it was the time of day, but definitely not worth the time, the money or the regret. We literally just stopped eating our food and threw everything away.

I would suggest Andelé authentic mexican food & marcado in Richfield Nicollet ave and 494 across from Menards. 5 stars. Was featured on diners Drive-Ins and Dives. Or anything on Lake Street at that.

Or Peppers & Fries, on East Lake street South Minneapolis. American Mexican fusion, Get the tatchos and fried...

It was my first visit to La Bodega earlier today and I'll be back again. My order was for a chicken burrito and two al pastor tacos.....one street and one American style. The burrito was very good and quite filling. Medium salsa on it was still too mild, so I'll try it with hot the next time around. Spouse had the tacos and enjoyed them, except for the nopales, which he didn't really care for as much as he thought he would. Had a few minutes to talk with the young couple while they were preparing my order. I assume they were the owners. Very nice, pleasant people. They mentioned that the business has only been up and running for just three months. A very bright, clean kitchen and work area. Online ordering was a breeze with the ability to customize food items, etc... Look forward to trying other menu items on future visits. We really enjoy being able to spend money supporting local and family owned businesses. We've been longtime, regular customers of Wok in the Park, Brito's Burritos and JC's Subs, all of which are located close to where we live.

This is the best food we've eaten all summer! I heard about La Bodega and their Birria Ramen on TikTok, so we had to check it out! We ordered Birria Ramen, Esquite, and a bottled Mexican Coke. To put it simply, there's something special about the way they cook this food. They deeply care about putting delicious flavors together and letting that speak for itself. When the ramen came out in a Tapatio instant ramen bowl, I was kind of underwhelmed, but revealing the deep flavors underneath changed my mind. Everything was so rich and tender, and it stretched my perception of what ramen could be! It was a great portion size, as my husband and I shared it, but it still left us wnating more. The Esquite was the perfect little side dish. The restaurant is small, but it has a lot of character. It has only a counter & stools inside and a few tables and chairs outside. There are two reserved parking spots for La Bodega customers in their shared lot, but the parking lot is a good size. If you visit during a peak time it might be hard to find a place to park.
