Maybe I have ordered the wrong items, or maybe the spice level that I have chosen was too low, but I was not impressed by the food quality here. Overall I thought the food was not bad at all, but a lot of times it was bland. I understand that me ordering the lowest level of spiciness doesn't help, but good food shouldn't need spiciness as its only or even dominant seasoning, as that would defeat the purpose of enhancing the food's own flavor profile. I have been here twice, once for dine in and once for takeout. The time for dining in, we got crab fried rice, pad thai, thick curry, stuffed chicken wing, and the red curry. The red curry was the best among them all, as it had the most flavor. I ordered those items because I have gotten these exact same items from other Thai restaurants and unfortunately this place falls relatively short. The second time, we got Thai fried rice, Chinese broccoli fried rice, crab fried rice, and pad-see-ew, for a celebration event. The pad-see-ew was very good. But the three types of rice genuinely tasted very similar, so similar to the point that I could not tell them apart if it was not because of the main differing ingredient (Chinese broccoli, crab meat, etc.). I don't feel disappointed by the place, and I am open to returning, but Bangkok Thai Deli is most likely not my first choice if I recommend Thai food in the Twin Cities. However, I do want to acknowledge that they have strengths as well. They are very affordable, and seem very popular with the local Frogtown community, which is a huge plus for me. They have a large menu with lots of pictures that aid people with choices. They also seem to be very receptive to feedback, according to Google reviews, so I sincerely hope this business will continue to succeed and prosper (assuming it...

Was hoping the best as I heard so many great things about this location. However, walking into the restaurant, the guy behind the counter was very rude, did not greet and not welcoming. Waited 10 mins before someone seated my party and I, but was taken to a tiny booth. The waitress did not get back to us until 10 mins after and asked if our order was taken. While ordering, I asked her suggestion as this was my first time and the waitress told me that she was new and does not know herself. I was like, really and is not feeling the discouragement!!! Counting the clock, we waited about an hour before getting our soup. Normally pho soup only take less than 10 min wait time, but l, damn, this was a super long time.
Not only the order took a long time, the orders were not recieved together, the food was very bland, the meat tasted overdue, and the seafood had a smell to it. The waitress never came back to check in, however, the waitress did stop by our table and started to air her hair out and tied it up and did not wash her hand.
I got to say, the place is not a friendly vibe, very unsanitary, non professional, and very costly for something that is not worth the price or the portion. End up paying 60 for something that would cost 30 at other similar places.
One thing that I hate the most is employees yelling at each other and boss blaming workers. Horrible experience, will...
Read moreThe food is ALWAYS good here. The service is typically attentive and has a sort of communal-based workload. I have found that you may have to flag someone down for something if you need it. There was no knife with my utensils. I used the sharp edge of my spoon after the busser didn’t bring one out for me. Giant cabbage slices became handheld instead, not a real issue, but it would have been nice to practice dining etiquette. Usually the condiments at the table are grimy and need to be wiped down. My favorites are the Larb number 93 with glass noodle or without. The glass noodle was served with huge shrimp, very good. I’m questioning the cook who put wilted (read: old) mint leaves in a dish that’s known for the herbs that go into the dish, especially because it is summer. I picked those out (which was most of them). Recommendation for spice level: it’s hot here, and it’s not a joke, so don’t go crazy ordering hot if you’re not interested in your nose dripping from the spice. This is an authentic family restaurant with great culture and fabulous food in a former Burger King that is popular with the asian...
