Highlights: On Bus Line, Parking Lot Behind Building, OK Customer Service, Awesome Birria Tacos, Awesome Jamaica Drink, Great Products

It's been over five years since I've purchased a meal from Homi, and I must admit this place has had a major facelift since my last visit.

Updated signage, updated menu, new beverage options and now they offer delivery. The food quality has also improved! I am proud of this place!

The lady who works the cash register is just as I remember her, impatient and unfriendly. No smiles, no greeting. That may work for some people, but I personally believe that good customer service is essential. That is the primary reason I stopped buying food from this place.

I try to take into consideration that I have no idea the kind of customers she deals with, as I've witnessed people be extremely rude to her, but no matter how polite and kind I am, I am still treated poorly. That alone, makes me not frequent this place as often as I'd like. I will only order if someone in my circle is ordering and we are together, which is honestly quite sad. I don't know if I'm lacking integrity, or if the product is so good that I don't even care how I'm treated. Either way, I hope you have a better experience! Maybe- I catch her on bad days- or maybe it's me! Haha.

I ordered 2 Birria Taco Meals ($11.95 each) & 1 Steak Taco Meal ($8.95) w| Rice and Beans (+$2.95) and 2 beverages ($2.35 each) All of the food that I ordered was great. I highly recommend the Birria Tacos.

UPDATED REVIEW FROM SERVICE 11/7/23 Homi Mexican Restaurant has definitely made it to my good side, and I'm excited to support this business.

This is a mom & pop shop that offers authentic Mexican Food with bold flavors in the Rondo Neighborhood. Conveniently located on University and Victoria, this location has access to both the Light Rail and the bus line, and not far from either Dale or Lexington where patrons can connect to highway 94.

There are multiple food options nearby, though there are plenty of choices on the menu for everyone (including vegetarian options)

The restaurant is small, and there are a few tables that seat 2-3 people each. The parking lot is located behind the building off of Victoria, and it is very small with limited parking.

Both the customer service and the product has improved since my last visit. I feel like the food taste better every time I order. It's so good!

Yesterday, I called around 7 pm to place an order for pick-up of the Birria Tacos with 2 sides of rice and beans. Ever since I've ordered them, it's been my go-to order every single time!

We headed to Homi from the West Side and let them know we would be there in 20 minutes. The main lady who works there called us back at 7:20 pm to let us know our food was ready and to check on our ETA. We let her know we were just arriving to the location and would be inside momentarily. I appreciated her wanting to get our food to us while it was hot and ready.

The Birria Taco meal is very filling. I am able to order 1 order of the Birria Tacos with 2 rice and 2 beans and feed my one-year-old son and I and still have leftovers!

I would recommend Homi Mexican Restaurant to anyone looking for bold flavors and authentic Mexican Food in the...

To start off, it took 20 minutes for our waitress to bring us water and 30 minutes for her to come and take our order. Our waitress was supposedly one of the cooks as well.

My first friend ordered the fried tacos; when he asked for the fried tacos there was supposed to be 4; he ended up getting 3 regular soft tacos instead. The waitress stated that it would take longer to complete the correct order and he'd have to wait for them to cook everyone else's order first before cooking the correct order. Because of the wait, he decided to just keep the incorrect order; he only got 50 cents off.

My second friend with us is a vegan and wanted his dish to be without cheese. He specifically asked for no cheese and his rice and beans came with cheese. Also, he and I each ordered a side of guacomolé. After she repeated to us that there was going to be two sides of guacamolé, she only gave me mine. My friend asked for his guacamolé and she then stated that "there is no more" and walked away.

Furthermore, she only refilled our water once throughout the whole dinner until I asked her to bring us a pitcher of water. I specifically asked for her to leave the pitcher of water at our table because she only came to our table when I would get up and get her attention and who knows how long it would take her for another water refill. She finally came over, filled our cups, and did not leave the water pitcher.

Lastly, as we were finishing dinner, we slowly discovered that every other table had chips and salsa prior to their meals. I asked a table if their chips were complimentary and they said yes. Our table was not served complimentary chips and salsa.

I ordered the enchiladas and they were very flavorful and good. Because of the horrific customer service, I will give this restaurant a 2 out of 5. None of us are planning...

If I could I would give this restaurant zero stars. I went to this restaurant on the evening of December 15th during a snow storm. I ordered the 3 birria taco combo with consommé. I regularly order birria tacos from a different Mexican restaurant but I couldn’t get to that restaurant that night, so I decided to try Homi restaurant. I wanted about 20 minutes for my order which I thought was long but I didn’t over think it. I had seen previous reviews about the taco shells being mushy so I asked for my tacos to be fried crispy. When I arrived home with my food, which is a 10 minute drive. I open the box of tacos and they are mushy with oil underneath them. I open the consommé and it was atleast 2 inches of oil just floating on top of the container. I tried to stir the sauce but the oil remained on top. The tacos meat tasted like pot roast meat and the consommé was oily and flavorless. I called the restaurant right away to state that it seems like my consommé was old or badly made and my tacos with very oily and was told to provide my name and number and come back the next day to get my refund due ti the weather that night. I returned to the restaurant to be told that they have no idea what I’m talking about and that they’re not refunding me nothing because I didn’t bring the food back and that they don’t know who I spoke to. Horrible customer service and food....

The birria taco was one of the best tacos I’ve ever had. The home made fried tortilla was crispy and the melted cheese in between created a nice contrast. The texture and flavor of the beef was amazing. There were 6 of us and we started off with chips and guoc and most of us ordered tacos. A few of us ordered the elotes. We all loved the food. Like a lot of reviews, I really appreciated the portions. I could only eat 2 out of the 3 tacos. My wife had tostadas. We have more than enough leftovers for lunch tomorrow. We’ll definitely be telling our friends about Homi and making this a regular spot.
