West Indies Soul Food — Restaurant in Saint Paul

Exceptional, the fact the young man on the phone explained the business and going between food truck in the sunmer and an actual location in the winter months. I was skeptical at first, but don't let that stop you from this amazing food. I believe she was the owner hand cooking all meals and the smells of carribean goodness filling the room. I didn't even know they existed tucked away across the street from The best steakhouse. Real food, real spices, the portions fitting to the price. I ordered oxtail it came with rice and peas and choice of side I did cabbage. I would have a picture but I was too excited, I left not one peice behind and would continue to support this local business. Parking is tough but pickup is quick, you order online or over the phone and it's ready pretty quickly. So you can quick park and run in.

04/26/24 This was my first time trying the food at this establishment. Customer service was great and I really appreciate that. The food, the food, the food. Upon entering, I noticed that I didn't smell food cooking. I didn't smell what I know to be soul food. I ordered the jerk chicken plate with and the oxtail stew with greens. I have been to parts of the West Indies and I've had some absolutely delicious food! I've been to different states and had amazing jerk chicken and oxtail. The food at this establishment is not good. The chicken was flavorless and dry, the jerk sauce on the side helped with flavor but not the dryness. Oxtail, for $23.99 I would expect nice meaty oxtail. That is not what you get here. The oxtail are so skinny if they actually had flavor you still wouldn't be able to enjoy them. I've never seen oxtail that small before. Oxtail taste amazing and falls off bone- down side skimpy oxtails not a lot of meat . Small portion.
